Default Strange dash rattle

I've searched. I've been rattle hunting in all kinds of different cars for decades. Before I rip my dash apart I figured I would ask you guys.

I have a strange, almost chirping noise coming from the dash, passenger side. It's not speed dependent. It will do it stopped at idle in park, revving engine does nothing so it's not a belt. Here's the crazy thing that has me stumped.

It stops if I push on the brakes. Even while the car is stationary.

What the heck could that possibly be?

The top shock mount sounds like chirping.

I did some more digging. This is strange. The sound can be manipulated with the dash blower fan, check out this video:

The strange thing is that it also seems to be braking dependent. At speed it's not there, if I start to brake (like on a freeway off ramp) it gets loud, then stops when I come to a stop. The only thing I can think of is the fan moving on its shaft, making contact with... something? But why would it get quieter with more fan speed? I can hear it from outside the car and it's loudest on the passenger side, under the hood where the air intake is. Maybe something got passed the filter?

I plan on taking my dash out this winter to get the leather re-done, maybe I'll just wait till then. Annoying AF though.

That sounds like a fan that needs some lubrication...

Ding! We have a winner. Finally got around to looking at it. At the rear of the fan shaft / housing is a rubber plug. This is not removable, I found out the hard way and tore mine a bit. Anyway, when I pushed on it the sound would stop. So I took a large gauge needle and injected some grease, then sealed it back up with silicone. It's been silent for 2 weeks now.
