I got lucky and found it on eBay.

My local Jag dealer offered to clean the sticky buttons for $150 ( you can also clean the sticky off yourself).. unfortunatly, the previous owner used something a little too harsh and the lettering was faded and rubbed off. The new stack took care of all that.

You can also send them to a refinisher for $450. They say they make them better than new. Stickynomore

I got 98% of the crud off using goo gone but he PO had also used something too agressive and rubbed some of the graphics off on a couple buttons. I'll start watching ebay and elsewhere to see if something pops up better than what I have now.

Added my new wheels (Thanks Dave). Yes I blocked the handicapped parking but no one was around and I got out to snap the pics then right back in and left. 30 seconds tops.

They look great, but I may be partial to the Tamana's I think spacers would finish it off...

Yes, Yes! Sean, get some H&R 15mm Bolt on Spacers at all 4 corners and it will make a huge difference! Note the pic of mine below with the spacers.

Dave- night and day difference. And to think you virtually stole those wheels.
Superb look with the silver.

Thanks guys! Yeah, it was one of those "dream deals" that rarely happen, much less when it happens with exactly what I wanted right down to the center caps. Jim truly just wanted those out of his garage, heck I even offered him more than his starting price and he said no, the original starting price was fine. I said thank you, thank you! Thanks again Jim for a smoking deal!!

Happy Saturday to all,

Dave

Looking good! Awesome deal on those wheels. What’s your tire size on the rear? I have 20x10 Oronas on my 12 XKR and I wasn’t sure if the 15mm spacers would be too much (I have 295’s P Zeros on back).

Joe

Hi Joe,
Rears are stock 285/30, but 295 should fit depending on brand and specs.

Cheers,

Dave

Default Bird made me do it

Well I opened the garage door today and a bird flew in. It just couldn't find it's way out and after 3 hours of chasing I finally caught it and released it outside. Then I came back in and saw I needed to do a little cleanup on the Jag. So took an hour and did a quick detail and put it to rest. Nice to have the lift so I don't need to bend over to do the bottom of the car. So it looks OK for it's next outing and the birds are gone.

Thanks to Simon Tan for the suggestion to use a wireless power pad for my cell phone. I fabbed a stand from craft foam so it can sit at an angle to view the Torque app. No need to plug anything in now and I'm using Tasker to auto launch the app while on the charge pad. My passenger can still charge a second device with coiled cord if needed.

Did my first oil & filter change on the XKR.... that has to be one of the easiest oil changes I have ever done on any vehicle I’ve owned...

Something in the interior, right-hand side, has been rattling while driving on rougher tarmac. Having noticed that the right side door trim isn't as tight on the top as it is on the left side door, I decided to take it off with these instructions. I had also noticed that the tweeter assembly (called "mirror cover" in JEPC) on said door was only held on by one clip, with the lower end of it not fastened to the door at all. When I removed it, I discovered that 3/4 of the plastic clips holding it in place had snapped!

In addition to those clips, some of the clips holding that white plastic ring (which in turn holds the tweeter) are also broken.
As I removed the door trim, I also found those 3 broken clips. Aside from that, I couldn't find anything that seemed as though it might be the cause, but I did put the trim back on correctly (top clips first!) so that it now sits tight. I also put a bit of insulating tape between the broken clip points on the tweeter cover thing and the door frame, just in case.
The rattle remains, however...so that'll be a mystery for another day.

I clearly need to replace the "mirror cover", but discovered that they are very expensive for what they seem to be! LH is C2P2755 and RH is C2P2753, prices from UK around $195 without shipping. Curiously, the chrome-ringed versions found on some cars (Portfolio or B&W?) are just around half the price; LH part is C2P10275 and RH is C2P10274, prices from UK around $95 without shipping.

Looking at this thread, it would seem that the two versions are interchangeable?

Finally got to fire up the Jag yesterday after being gone the last couple of weeks and took it for a nice day trip to Oklahoma and back. I have to say what's normally a pretty dull drive on nothing but flat, straight highway becomes really enjoyable in the XK. I've never had another car with such seemingly bottomless passing power at 90 mph . This is one car I really do like more and more after every drive.

Incidentally, the day started out with me getting a chance to drive and compare another 500+hp car. The local Alfa Romeo dealer had a marketing event for their top-of-the-line Giulia Quadrifoglio where they really encouraged you to flog the testers as hard as you wanted. They even had to change the test route after the local cops caught on and started camping out along the original one. The Alfa feels razor sharp and is also really, really fast with a great snarling and popping exhaust note, but ultimately I still prefer the power delivery of the XK's big V8. I wouldn't consider trading in the XK for one, but I'd trade my Panamera in a heartbeat if I could convince myself Alfa will still be around in the US in 5 years.

Do you think it’s possible that the rattle your hearing could be the broken plastic pieces that have fallen back into the door? Just a thought....
