Default ABS/ASC Message

I have been receiving these warning messages off and on for about two years. I have cleaned the sensors, connections, throttle body, etc. There is no pattern regarding when the error message will pop up. I would think a bad connection or module solder joint would result in a constant message until the problem is fixed. I'm tempted to ignore the issue until the light remains on all the time. Then, I'll tear out the module. I never have any driveabilty issues or need to limp home.

Driveability: should be no problems here. You'll just have traditional driver-controlled braking, no ABS.

For my money, your symptoms point to an intermittent connection to one of the front sensors. Have you ever done the resistance check to those, while moving the steering lock-to-lock?

I had the same symptoms and they immediately cleared up whin I finally had the module rebuilt. They did more than fix the main power connection, there are several soft spots in that controller. I was happy with Module Masters in Idaho. Fast and professional. About $150. Wish I had done it much earlier

Module Masters sounds like a good plan for November when I put the Jag away for the winter. I think my son used the same company for his Audi module. The issue does not seem to relate to steering wheel movement since it often appears when I start the car.

I had a case with my own car where the symptom progressed from an occasional ABS warning, to frequent ones, to the warning appearing when I started the car. Traced to the RF wheel sensor connector. Cleaning and reseating it cleared the trouble.

It is very common in electronics for cracked solder connections to show intermittent behavior due to vibration and thermal expansion and contraction.

I sure wish you were close to NC. I'd love to make a video of the ABS module repair. Do you have any trips this way planned soon?

The connector from the front wheel sensors to the wiring harness are about $40 each and take just a few minutes to replace, my daughter could do it. Bad ones will thriw a code but only Jag dealers can read it. Cheaper just to replace 'em. That, and a rebuild will set you straight.
