I have code C-1095 showing which is ABS Pump Motor failure and am searching for a replacement part for my MJA 5920 BE pump. The car is a '97 XK8 with Traction Control with a 5 pipe ABS system.. Ebay has lots of ABS pump motors advertised but none are an exact match. The closest I can find is a MJA 5920 AF.
Are there other pumps that will cross over? The usual sources have come up empty, of course.
Don,
A C1095 code is usually caused by failing solder joints at the pump motor connectors inside the ABS module. Have you had that repair done previously?
Ah yes the infamous solder joints. Sadly yes they have soldered, re-soldered, finally the ABS control module was discarded and a good one was found (no small task). I've been chasing this for 5 years with no success. Now we have the pump alarm. Formerly it was a Wheel Speed Sensor which it was not. Finding and replacing this pump is my last hope.
Assuming for a moment that the alarm code is wrong and the ABS pump motor is just fine where do I look next? The gent from Jersey said this code usually means the solder joints are bad. But that repair has already been tried more than twice and the module has been replaced too. So is this failing actually fixable? I've been trying for five years with no success. I'm losing hope as thousands have been spent in chasing this. .
Check the wires from the pump motor to the 2 pin connector.
The insulation tends to fall off old wires and can cause a 'short-circuit' if the bare wires touch each other.
Well phooey, the wiring on the ABS pump looks like new. So that is unlikely to cause my issues. Is a pump failure a common concern or is it rare? Since I cannot find a match for the MJA 5920 BE part number are there any others that will work? Alternatively I can just continue to drive it without the ABS function and give up trying to fix it.
