body processor module
Hello everyone i'm new to this site and in need of a little help.
i diagnosed various faults in my bpm so thought that i should buy a s/h unit. All the numbers match but now when fitted the car will not start.
i thought that i should program the unit to my car but when fitted it will not communicate with all the other control modules.
question does the new s/h unit need to be virginised and does it still hold the other vehicles details, can they be cleared or should it just work and i've bought a expensive dud unit?
i have tried using the jlr mongoose but no joy. any help would be gratefully received. my car has only done 33000 miles and in mint condition.

Hi Joakim,
Some more detail will help us to help you. I see your CP lists a 2005 XKR X150 - can you confirm that it is actually an X100 as the 150 was not available until 2006.
Some background would be useful - what were the issues that led to your replacing the BPM? They don't generally give much trouble, although there have been several instances of their being killed (shorted wiring).
Has the replacement BPM addressed any of your previous issues? Do you mean that the car will crank but not fire, or just not crank?
There are repairers in the UK, but I've read mixed reports about them.

Hi thanks for your response, so basically on the centre switch console there is heated seats etc. All the buttons work apart from the front fog lamp, yet there are no tell tail lights working on the buttons. Wiring to and from central switch pack to bpm is ok. I Also tested central switch pack that is ok. All the fuses are good and relays. Front fogs operate from the relay. There is a negative short code from the bpm. Also the central locking has stopped working and alarm does not activate, Everything else as far as i know is good. it starts and drive as it should. There is a permanent red led light down by the shifter. All these faults occurred at the same time i think.

That fuse feeds a lot of stuff!
49 6.4 Adaptive speed control module LF61-7
50 9.4 Front axle ride height sensor
51 9.4 rear axle ride height sensor
52 13.2 Active security sounder
53 9.4 LH headlamp levelling actuator
54 9.4 RH headlamp levelling actuator
55 9.4 Levelling switch centre console switch pack
56 9.2,9.4 LH headlamp levelling control module
57 9.2,9.4 RH headlamp levelling control module
60 7.2 Heater pump relay
60 9.1,9.2 Front fog relay
My first thought was the security sounder, but you've eliminated that. Next would be the adaptive speed control module as it's in an exposed location.
Otherwise it's down to knocking things off the list one by one.
Good luck!

Just to give everyone an update. I found some crushed wires from the rear ride height sensor. They were trapped where the top of the rear spring sits against the chassis. Anyway sorted that. I got full use of my switch pack. still no central locking, started the car fine. switched the engine off an then nothing. no start no lights at all and still no central locking. All the fuses are ok but fuses 1 to 5 in the engine compartment fuse box are only registering about 3 v so i presume a relay is playing up. I'm tired now so will check relays tomorrow. Thank you for your help we are getting there.
Progress!
Possibly someone has had the rear suspension apart for whatever reason and trapped the wiring. Member Rothwell warned about that happening in his rear suspension refurb writeup. Having been there, it's easy to do.
Fuses 1-5 are fed by the ignition positive relay in that fusebox, but could be the inertia switch has tripped.
In the late models, that is somewhere tucked under the LHS of the dash panel inside the car.

well no luck today my diagnostics cannot link with the body processor module . still no crank no start no lights no wipers no central locking and windows don't go up or down. dash lights come on with ignition, radio and heating sytem ok. this is becoming a hair pulling exercise. would a faulty inertia switch cause all this? going to bridge it tomorrow and check ground and battery feed to bpm.
Yes you are right, the inertia switch does seem tripped but will not reset. I have connected the code reader. lots of codes but i'm concentrating on a few u1260 u1261 u1147 scp circuit failures and missing data.
I've disconnected the bpm and instrument pack to test the scp wires and they are shorting on each other and any earth?? suspected area is fcs11 and fcs12 splice points but the wiring is like a needle in a haystack. I've no idea where to look. i have also noticed that in the engine compartment fuse box we are getting 3-4 volts on the relay earths so i presume there is a short. does anyone know of any problem areas?
full list of codes are b2141 b1948 b1858 b1236 u1260 u1261 u1147s u1147 u2521 u2522 u2523 b1236 b1232 p0110 b24bd u2523
