Default California Hwy 1

Finally….Hwy 1, Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey… on a gorgeous day. With the XK8, convertible top down .
Most of the small annoying issues taken care of, confident and needing to take a real challenging shake down drive. About 500 miles. Smooth and powerful. Very pleased.

I was hoping to see more of you and your beautiful RED XK8. I read your conversation with BobRoy, and was glad to see how much he helped you. I talked with him yesterday about replacing my leaking power steering pump. I trust him more than any shop. Anyway, when I still lived in Las Vegas I made the HWY 1 trip a couple of times. Once in my modified 1991 ZR-1 Corvette. A rough ride where the pavement is poor....and way too much shifting...all the way from Rocklin to Vegas via Santa Barbara and San Bernardino. Long, long day made it hard to enjoy the scenery. My 1997 has 117,000 miles on it though, and I've done most of the maintenance since I bought it in 2008. But I'm too old and crotchety to keep doing the heavy repairs like a PAS pump. UGH! I live in Rocklin with my precious wife. If we could get a few of us XK8 owners together it would be fun to take some day trips. I've done Rocklin to Vegas via HWY 80/95 several times, and Vegas to North Bend, Oregon and back several times. These XK8s are a pleasure to drive....when they are mechanically sound. Happy driving, Roseville Sister.

would be amenable to a day trip/ drive, find a picnic spot. But would also like to include any forum members who are interested. They’ve all been so supportive…and I’d like to meet them. Yes, Bob is a cool guy, and I also trust him and his knowledge more than any shop or “expert”….

Gorgeous drive. I was raised in that area . Next time either north of Bay Area or south of Santa Cruz(played on the beaches when I was much younger). It was perfect; highway not washed out, no fires, sunny day. Have gone over to see the vistas, only had fog instead.
