Exclamation Door Windows not staying down

Took my 2004 Convertible back on the road. But wow I got a problem with the Passenger Door Window not staying down when door is open. Did the Window reset as usual, repeatedly for a couple of days to no awhile. When I open the door the Window backs down so the Door can be opened, but then immediately after Door is open rolls back up so you can't close it.
Any suggestions

Cheers

Sounds to me like a sticking micro switch/sensor. Id spray all around the inner door latch with WD40 or similar, give it a couple of taps too so the switch frees.

Also look at this posting. Scroll down to post #31 Click Me.

We (Jon89) and I just replaced the door micro switch in his doors and driver side went fine, passenger, not so much. We tried it in and out several times, making adjustments as we went because of a couple of different things and this was the last one we had. Going back in there maybe this week as we ran out of daylight and ideas the last time.
Best we can figure, it's a small margin of adjustment on that switch with contact on the cam. Too sharp of a angle and it comes off too soon. We did find the switches in both doors were still working, but might have needed to move more than necessary to activate.
Jon's problem was the alarm going off and doors unlocking, so that little switch controls lots functions. He did a good write up on it back a couple of weeks ago but it was on the tale end of another thread about some of the problems caused by it.

How old is your battery? I had a window dip problem and no other problems and a new battery was the solution. The battery was about 14 years old so it owed me nothing.

Stu, the problem that happens with a low battery is little different. They down down and keep dropping every time you pull the handle. The and Jon's problem is when you let go of the handle after opening it, when released, it goes right back up, making it a possible window breaker if you don't lower the window by the switch.
If Mendo finds out first, I hope he lets us know the secret.

True, I'm just suggesting that a battery can cause window problems and maybe this is another symptom. I'm also curious to learn what he finds.

Thanks for the input guys. Looked liked the inside Door Handle was causing it to move. So I'll check the micro switch out first. Have a Door from a wrecked vehicle here to check out switch location and operation. Don't like pulling the Door Panel off.
On this subject does anybody know what to do about cracked and broken plastic brackets for the Panel retainers. The part that is glue to the Door Panel. Tried gluing them with mixed results.
And this is not a Battery issue!

Mendo, Jon has tehe part number for the local auto parts store, but you do need to cut one section off, I'll call him now and tell him to give you the info.

Thanks for the call, Wayne. Always a pleasure to talk with you....

Mendo XK, I purchased my fir-tree type door panel fasteners at my local NAPA store back in January. 12 of them come in the package for about $5. The NAPA part number is 665-1107. They had them in stock. Call before you make the trip to your local NAPA store because they may need to order some for you....

Does it sound like the window goes back up because the car thinks the door is closed? I imagine the "door is closed" microswitch is the suspect here.

If that sounds right, see if there are other indications that the car thinks the door is closed. Do lights turn off? Will the alarm arm?

If so, that lends more evidence to the microswitch, off the top of my head.

I have been buying the fir tree connectors from NAPA for awhile now. What I'm looking for is the part that the connector goes into on the inside Door Panel. The Part that is glue on. Can't find any reference to those parts anywhere.
