Foxwell NT510 Diagnostic Tool
Just wondering if any of the fine folk here have any experience of using the Foxwell NT510 Jag / LR diagnostic kit?
It appears to be quite a powerful tool for the price and as I run both Jaguars and a Range Rover it is quite appealing to me. I do also have IDS/SDD on my laptop, but I really struggle with both these programs, particularly SDD for the LR as there is nothing intuitive about them. I use electronic diagnostic equipment in my day job so I am quite used to this sort of thing, but I still struggle with the 'dealer' level kit for these cars.
Any thoughts most welcome.

New one on me. No personal experience, but here's some endorsements from happy owners:

FOXWELL.UK: Review on BMW & MiNI Diagnosing and Doding with Foxwell NT510 Scan Tool
And a detailed spec sheet: https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT510L.html
Thinking I might have to invest in one myself...

Thanks Redline
I have seen all those reviews and in fact it was Gendan in the UK that recommended the tool to me, as I was having a conversation with them about something else. I was hoping I could find someone on the forum who may have had first hand experience with it. Anyway, I am going to order one soon, so I'll be able to report back on it.
As an aside and for our UK patrons, I used Gendan a year ago when I purchased a new upstream HO2 sensor. I recently started getting a P1647 code again, indicating a problem with the new sensor. Anyway after confirming the problem lay with the sensor and not the car, Gendan were brilliant in offering to replace it. I decided to pay an extra £20 or so and they replaced it with a genuine Denso OEM unit. I can't recommend Gendan highly enough. Great outfit.

Ok, I was doing some final research on the NT510 just before writing a check, when I learned about the iCarsoft LR1 and the iCarsoft LR II. The LR1 is an updated i930 and is economically priced, while the LR II, well, the LR II has a beautiful 4 inch color screen. While the NT510 seems to have a slight edge for being user-friendly, they all sound great. So, after researching benefits and advantages, I went digging in eBay this morning for buried treasure. I found a good used LR II and picked it up for only $85. After adding a 1 year warranty for $3.49, now I'm just sitting by my mail box so I can instantly update it (if needed) with the newest software that I've already downloaded from iCarsoft's website. Hey, if it doesn't measure it to the NT510, I bet I can recoup my investment in no time, but it will be interesting to compare with Andy's NT510 acquisition any day now... :-)

Hi Redline..............well, you've just confused me even more now. There I was, all set to pull the trigger on the NT510 when you came along with your LRII and the allure of the big screen!
Looking at them, they both seem to have similar specification apart from the screen size. I must admit I was a bit dissapointed with the smaller screen size on the Foxwell and as I'm buying a new one the pricing is very similar, so I want to get as much as I can for my money.
I'd be really interested to hear your view of the LRII when it arrives, as you may convince me that is the way to go.
Thanks
Andy

LRII Jaguar Features Limited
FYI
I just saw this note regarding the LRII diagnostic:
"The software and functions for Jaguar are limited but included free of charge as value-added services for customers." Apparently, the LRII is primarily designed for Land Rovers.
The price for LRII and NT510 are both $150 with free shipping on eBay.

Obviously, a lot more can (and does) go wrong with the Land Rover. lol... If the LR II will catch all of these Jaguar error codes that iCarsoft has listed on their website, I think I'll be very happy with it (especially if it can them clear them after resolution...).

Well kids whats the latest reports on this NT 510 Foxwell reader???
Their on sale for $129 with one FREE car download delivered.
Pretty good price, & if it does all they say it does.
Its moving closer & closer to a dealer level scanner, programming tool.
Supposed to operate the modules both ways, to see if they work.
Also it can program modules, new, as well as old ones, if its possible to reprogram them.
Says that it programs keys, & they can be reprogrammed, so if it does.
That alone would almost pay for it.

i carsoft
Stay well away from i Carsoft, its is a total piece of crap. Engines coolant temp was registered as -145F and a number of other anomalies. Website says you can update the software, after several hours I gave up trying.
I also run a Range Rover and have ordered the Foxwell 520. We will see if that is any better when it arrives.
Regards,
Karl

It does have XK8 specific PIDs for the 01-02, but no specific support for models before 01 is apparent. Most of them work. I still use this first, mostly, because dragging out the computer with IDS is not quite as easy for a quick check.

Wingrider,
Yes, I have the Foxwell NT510. It’s excellent. Bought it last year from a well-known auction site. It had Jaguar Land Rover software already installed.
Due to usage so far to date, I can confirm that it successfully reads ECU, TCM, Chassis, and AirBag codes on 2003 XKR. It also gives live-data. It does loads more but I haven’t needed it for much else during my ownership.
I know that in just my one year of having the Foxwell, it has recouped it’s cost from all the codes it has read and issues it helped solve!

Appreciate your responses;
So far it seems to pick up more than my icarsoft i930.
Showed that the 07's pedals were jammed, old info, as the gear was replaced, & pedals now work.
Was a real pain for me to download the Jaguar info into the reader though.
Would have been better, already downloaded into it when purchased, like PKWise's was
Seems it will not clear the P 1582 code, either
