Front too low, scrapes the ground on little dips
Like the title says, front too low. Also suspension fault. 2005 XKR 4.2 Supercharged. I am assuming the springs are sprung. I want to bring the front height up. It is at least an inch low, 14 from peak wheel arch to wheel center. What OEM spring number can I use with the present adaptive shocks? Can I change the shocks and springs without further modification and get rid of the adaptive suspension system? Can I replace just the front, as the back rides high enough and bounce suppression is not too severe. What springs and shock combination must I use to change over to non-adaptive suspension. Is there a way to tell if I have lowered springs fitted? Are there heavy duty springs that can better support that heavy engine and blower? Thanks!
New coil springs and top mounts will do the trick. You can change all four of your CATS shock absorbers with Bilsteins shocks for cars without CATS and just disconnect the CATS adaptive control module in the boot.
IMO you should fix your suspension fault and keep the adaptive dampers.
Your springs are twenty years old and new original ones will be good for twenty new years.

Thank you for your advice. Could you give me a part number or brand for the spring or a heavy duty spring? Could you give me a part number for a non cat sBilstein shock?
As to keeping the present cats shocks, could you give me a part number for the fronts and back please?
Now as to your advice on keeping the cats system. This is the first Jaguar I have ever worked on. I am doing it for my daughter and just found out that I am quite ill and am seeing a number of doctors so my time and my time of feeling well enough to work on the car varies a great dealso I am asking for shortcuts I know. I have purchased a number of used adaptive control modules which a local shop swears they programmed for the vehicle. None have either removed the error or changed the ride. I have an iCarsoft CR Max which for some reason does not even read the VIN though my older Foxwell 630NT does. the CR Max gives differing information depending on which of the modules I have installed. Sometimes I get a shorted to battery, and shorted to ground which I do not understand as there are only two wires going to the shock and the shock is isolated from the chassis. I could understand if the circuit was three wire in a differential setup that one input could be grounded on one shock and shorted to battery positve on another. I was assured that the module would not word the system if not properly programmed for the car. Is this so?
So if I have been unclear.....I would like the cats to work, I need new springs and need to know which springs to buy, if I cannot get cats system to work I need to know which model Bilsteins to buy. I have purchased Peter Hobmans rebuild for the shockmount and would like to purchase from someone a pair of rebuildable OEM mounts as the ones current only the car are URO with the yellow bubble gum mount. Also what is the hole for in the metal cylindrical spacer for and which way is it to be oriented, and is the shock suppose to have a snubber and cover on it. I know this is a lot and I have watched a lot of the videos but I am seventy and get them confused, but will continue to refer to them as I straighten out this car. Many thanks!

Sloan, have a look at Rockauto, they are the place we all get out shocks. They list both the standard and the electric.
As for the Springs, just used a set of Lesjofors 06-13389-26201 off Ebay for $192 to you including tax.
Don't forget the Bumpstops KYB SB-101, Had a lot of luck on price at Advance Auto but Rockauto sales those also.

l also have spare CATS module and they interchange on the car with no programming or operational problems, but l will note communication through my icarsoft is not always straightforward, maybe needs input from somebody with more IDS experience.
I see your best route to sorting this is contact with Wayne (cjd777) and a visit.
I also have a 2005 XKR with CATS (but not the full “R Performance” package, which included lowered suspension, quicker steering ratio, and heavy duty sway bars, among other things). I do have 20” BBS Detroits and Brembos with red calipers.
You can buy OEM Jaguar shocks, but they’re just made by Bilstein with green paint and a Jaguar label. If you look in the SNG Barratt catalog, you can find both. (The Bilsteins are identical and much cheaper.) Also note that there are two different part numbers for CATS shocks for a 2005 XKR, depending on whether your car has the full R Performance package (with lowered springs).
My suspension control module failed and the change was VERY noticeable. I would highly recommend sticking with the CATS shocks and the control module.
I’m getting ready to change the CATS shocks on my 2005 XKR. Unfortunately, I bought the part for cars with the R Performance package before realizing my mistake and buying the correct one. If anyone wants/needs the shocks for a 2005 with the R Performance package, let me know. I’m selling the pair (new, including shipping) for $600.
Oh, by the way… the front of my car also scrapes the pavement when going straight down (or up) a driveway to/from the street. I’ve found the best solution is to enter/exit at an angle.

Ray, since I see you are also in Santa Cruz County I’d like to offer the loan of my special socket (17mm) to torque (and remove) the top shock nut - if you don’t have one. I used a 7/16 Allen hex to hold the shock rod in place while you torque (or remove) the top nut.
Also, $600 for the 2 adaptive shocks is a good deal (I paid $800 2 years ago).
My Bosses XKR had the exact same issue, I replaced the springs, shock mounts, and Bilstein Shocks for him and it raised the front end 27mm from where it was. Not sure if the factory springs were the R springs or not, but Comfort was all i was able to get from Jaguar so thats what i put on it. Doesnt scrape at all now.
Also, I have a Brand NEW in the box set of Comfort Springs for a 2004 XKR if you want them. When i purchased from Jaguar, it looked like the Part number was for each spring. turns out they come in pairs, so now i have an extra set. P/N is JLM20706. Send me a text if your interested in them, 9319963570. Ill cut you a deal. Located in Nashville TN but i can ship. I know this is my first post on here but ive been lurking for a while. My Bosses XKR
