I used the Pioneer with a cable between the electronics and the screen to give me placement flexibility. I also ordered some burled walnut veneer off eBay to remake the centerpiece, it is a great match. Since the part where I put the screen has a small curve the center of the screen is flush with the word and the top and bottom extend just a bit.

At some point, I may put some real oil and temp gages under the A/C but it really is not much of a loss to dump those.

I also put in all new speakers and a new amp.

I put together a wood base. It takes two pieces the first one screws into the base of the car and the second smaller one is what you see. You just glue those together. I ordered the veneer on ebay, cut it to size, and then put table top epoxy on it. This was not too big of a project, when you take out the center it is easy to see how to engineer it. I wish I had taken pictures while I was making it.

 

I used Infinity Kappa, they are good, not great.
