Please see that attached photo and let me know where the rubber end of this hose goes ( and be gentle ).

Embarrassed - It's been 5 months since the low oil pressure / timing chain / cylinder head rebuild / replace everything that's exposed and I want to get this car running again...

I think the end of this breather hose connects to a black plastic tube (protected by a silver heat protective shroud that comes out of the passenger side inner fender / fuse - relay area.

It's not easy to find where that plastic tube goes... Evaporative Cannister?[see attached picture]

I can send more photos if necessary.

 

I don't know what year or car but on my 2001 XKR It attaches to a metal tube which goes to the evaporative canister in the wheel well on the left inner apron. After it leaves the throttle body it is wrapped in a heat shield, but it is on the drivers side, not the passengers

 

As RCSign says below, it helps a lot if you give us the model year of the car.

On my 1997, the part-load breather tube winds underneath the intake manifold tubes back toward the throttle body...the middle connection on the tube connects to the induction elbow under the throttle body, and the rest heads back toward the firewall before turning towards the DRIVER'S side of the engine bay and connecting to the PURGE VALVE mounted between the coolant expansion tank and the driver's front wheel well. The connection is near the bottom of the purge valve...take a close look and you should see it.

Good luck. BTW, I'm replacing my part-load breather tube today as well.

I think he's talking about the line the coupe has described, The purge valve on the earlier models are in the engine compartment where as the later models it's located up under the fender. ( I think they changed it in 1999 to under the fender). To access it on my 2001 you have to remove the inner fender liner on the drivers side. To hook up the hose can it be done in the engine bay. The purge valve is with the canister under the fender on the later models.

 

"The Coupe" had it right. The attached file shows where it will be connected.

But this still leaves what to connect to the mystery tube coming out of the passenger side?

 

Take a look at page 41 and see if it helps. It is the only info I have.

I went and looked on my XKR and that hose goes to the expansion tank on the back side. But I don't know on a naturally aspired motor, could be different.

If I am correct, it runs from the pass-through at your fender, just next to the heat shield, on the right side of the engine bay, to the right side of the throttle body. On the right side of the throttle body are 2 hose connections. The small one runs up to the fuel rail on the right side, apparently to provide feedback vacuum to some kind of pressure regulator. The other connection, the larger one. is the one you want. I was told that this is the vacuum supply to the power brake system. (I don't know how accurate this is)
Mine was run through a foil heat shield/fabric blanket to protect it from heat from the exhaust manifold. They still have the shield available at the dealer. I will look up the number off my reciepts if you want it. The parts guy at my local dealer, (Who is pretty good) was a little puzzled, but an old time parts guy (who now is in the accounting department) wandered by and knew not only what it was, but where they were in the stockroom, and just went and got one and handed it to my normal parts guy. (I have been very impressed by the local Royal Jag dealer personnel - very committed)

Reviving an old thread I know, however, I could really use the part number to this Partial Load Breather tube. I broke it removing the valve cover on driver side. Now it's throwing an Evap (loose gas cap) code.
