The refurb begins.
Hi dsnider586, I was a bit **** off yesterday with what happened and as a result did not explain myself correctly. Had been working for most of the day outside and it was not comfortable. I believe the problem originated when I was trying to get the motor to turn to get the cam on the flats in order to make its removal easier. I waited until the car did its checks and then turned the key to crank then two seconds later turned the key back, with the fuses for the fuel pump out and the pump relay out of course. I then went to check the position of the cam, IMHO it was worse so I did the same thing again, but this time the motor only cranked over very little and stopped on its own, hardly moving the cam at all. That's when I got a lot of messages on the dash, I initially thought a flat battery, but when I removed it the green indicator showed full charge, its being topped up as I write this as a matter of course. I plan to do a hard reset and then put check with my OBD11 meter. My progress has been hampered by the weather and a trapped nerve in my left shoulder ( gardening a few weeks ago moving paving slabs ), that's why it taken so long to complete this task. Also I may have either stripped the threads on the first middle bolt of the R.H cam cover side or cracked the plastic on the cam cover its self. Unknown at this time, main concern is getting the motor started and then do the repair work if it is required. Than you all so much for any help offered. Cheers Arty
I'm sure it's only something minor causing the no start.
Maybe your starter motor is no good.
If your battery is well charged and the starter was having a hard time turning the motor then I guess it is a possible cause.

Hi pluto, thanks for the input, it is a possible cause, but the car has always started first time every time in my short ownership. I am going out shortly to try again and get the codes, still a bit frosty up here in the frozen North, just waved to Stannis Baratheon from the window and he is well wrapped up, LOL's.

Hello guys, did some final checking this morning in the bitter wind and all looked good. Replaced the battery and fitted the exhaust vent pipe which I had to make an adapter for cut from a general purpose spray bottle, the pipe that goes into the bottle and draws the liquid up, fits like a glove, will blank the other side later when it warms up. Coupled up the battery and did a hard reset, prayed a few times and tried to crank the motor, it worked. Ran it til the oil light went out and then replaced the fuses and rely. As usual he started first crack of the whip! Well impressed with him. Ran up to temp and checked for oil leaks and any signs of problems. On thing I did notice was the engine now has a clicking noise which I did not notice before, its not very loud but its there. Have not had a chance to drive him as he's still officially off the road until April. That will give me a bit of time to get on with other things I have to fit, eg oil change and AMETECH RESTORE, fuel filter change, new belt, grill, headlight bulbs upgrade ( new Night breakers ), and a couple of other odds and ends.
I honestly do not know what was going on yesterday with all the info messages and the fial to crank, maybe the battery was just a bit under power? It was showing full charge on the battery, and its supposed to be a new one last year. Oh well just shows how fickle these cars are when it comes to battery charge!
Many thanks again to all who have helped me with the job and to those who just looked.

Congrats! That first cranking after pulling everything apart is a nail-biter. The clicking noise may be the injectors.......ears can suddenly become very sensitive after doing engine work! One of my cam covers cracked slightly around a bolt hole but outside the gasket, so no problem. Hopefully that's all that happened with you. Even if it's stripped, if it's on the top and doesn't leak then no big deal.
Thanks for confirmation Mike66. I did not think of the injectors, I am not accustomed to blind panic which is obviously what took me over together with apparent doom and gloom etc, but hey happy days! It was nice to get him finished and running again. Might tackle the belt if it gets a bit warmer, there's a cold Northerly blowing right up his R send so does not make for pleasant working.
Thanks again for all the help and tips........until next time, bye.

Could not get anything more done today as its just to cold!
I did take a pic of the battery which posed a problem to connect to the exhaust pipe in the boot/trunk. Here is my solution to the problem. I cut about 2" from the pickup tube on an old empty bottle of " greased Lightening ", it was the perfect fit for both ends. Now all I have to do is blank the other end.
Initially thought this was an AGM battery but its not! You just cannot fill it.
Might help someone.
