Default Replacing shocks

Hello,
I've finally got my replacement shocks, taking a look at the new ones (haven't removed the old ones yet) I'm a bit confused. There is no lower spring seat on the new shock body. Is this something that is attached to the old unit and can be switched over? There is a circlip approximately where the spring seat would go, but it doesn't look very strong and I cannot imagine that is all that would hold the tension of the spring.

Arn’t the springs located on the lower arm and not on the shock? Have you checked any parts manuals online to check the fitment?

on the front shocks you can take it off the old shock and move to the new. for the rear, the springs sit on the lower arm

I don’t know if this will help you but the part numbers are in this picture. The seat will slip over the shock and sit.

Perhaps would have been useful knowledge when I ordered the shocks a few weeks ago. Haha, do you suppose it's possible to use the ones off the old shocks?

Done the job a few times and found no problem with the shelf transfer. I can see were areas with rust **** cars could be a problem.

I do live in the rust belt, however the vehicle has never seen snow or salt. With that said how does it come off? Does it just sit on the clip, and use a mallet to tap it loose?

It's simply slides off the old shock and is meant to be reused.
