Default Valve cover bolt part number

Hello everyone

i snapped one of the valve cover bolts and I’m struggling to find the part number to purchase a replacement. Anyone who can chime in is greatly appreciated.

I need to drill out the broken bolt … not looking forward to this at all.

cheers

Try welding a washer and a nut to the snapped bolt and using that to remove it first before you drill into the head.

There are 3 different bolts that hold the cam cover to the head.(which bolt?)

Unfortunately, the bolt snapped flush with the head, I don't think welding here is an option. I love the tip though.

A little late to this thread, but a word of caution on the valve cover bolts - the rear inner bolt is different to the other bolts and studs. It has no location nose to prevent interference with the cam sensor. Fitting a nosed standard bolt on that rear inner position may cause misfires.

See the page on Terry's Jag parts here: https://www.terrysjag.com/category/X...ket-40-V8.html

The standard bolts are #AJ810511
The standard studs are #AJ810512
The rear inner studs are #AJ810721 and requires the mounting #AJ810510

I'm not sure that it could get that bad, but it could be hell trying to diagnose a misfire after a cam cover gasket change

I'm just finishing up a chain and tensioner update on my 01 4.0l coupe and still have my covers off. All of the bolts positions are through holes with the exception of the 2 centre bolts and the rear inner which are blind holes. The rear inner bolt hole is 5mm shallower than the centre bolts.

Trying to pull a standard nosed bolt down in that rear inner position will probably result in......snap !
