I grabbed one for an LS 3.9- worked great for about $45 and available most places.

At least avoid the metal impellor ones, I would buy the original jaguar one.

The plastic ones have been known to shed blades and disintegrate over time.

So far, not heard of the metal ones doing the same.

Get upgraded and save yourself future problems.

Metal impeller versions are NOT an upgrade, there is no upgrade to the current oem pump.

There are some cheap models on the market with metal impellers that are prone to leaking, reported here on the forum.

Also, our cars do not have silica in the coolant to protect metal impellers against cavitation, which plastic impellers don’t need.

The original plastic ones last very long, so that would still be my choice.

PS Only the very 1st plastic models from 97/98 where prone to failure...

All 4.2's from 2003 on had water pumps, with metal veins, fitted from the factory ie OEM in direct response to the failures encountered previously.

That’s incorrect. One of the youngest 4.2 engines I have seen was built mid 2007, and had plastic impellers as used from the 1st 4.2 engines build.

It is a matter of record what the 03 onwards 4.2's are fitted with.

Where do you get your information from?.

Jaguar has never made a change to metal impellers; at least they have not made it known. All 4.2 engines I have seen have plastic impellers, and when you buy a new pump from Jaguar, you will get a plastic impeller.

So why do you think is metal?

Guess you shouldn't believe everything you read.

My most profound apologies, I have just read my manual and indeed it says it is a plastic impeller.

Once again, sorry.
