XK8 "How To" Faux Wood Trim
As promised, I have done a quick PDF showing the materials, and steps to produce faux wood trim out of some of your plastic pieces.

Thanks Doug, I have been using this technique for over 20 years. I fool the eye with paint and stains to create finishes that make an object look like something it isn't. How about granite, leather, stone, paper, dashboards? Nothing is out of the realm of possibilities.
its wonderful to see that this tradition is still around.
Our Victorian house has a staircase faux-grained to look like a more expensive, darker wood, and a fireplace with some slate which has magically become 'marble' in some places. Lovely stuff! Never thought I'd see it in action.

Fantastic. I will be using this process on my door pull pockets as I feel the factory should have done this. I may do the front seat belt covers as well because they are looking tired.
Ok, finally I took the courage to follow bradstuff "wood making" technique. His tutorial is simple and easy to follow. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the final results. Additional to the pieces bradstuff did on his XK, I also did the radio fascia, which in my case was broken on two parts at the sides. I glued the parts with 5 minute epoxy glue, sanded and paint. If you plan to do the fascia too, my advice is to be patient and careful when taking the A/C buttons apart. Plastic is very fragile and easily brakes. Happy "wood making" to those that want to follow.
That looks awesome, Felipe! I've done something similar a few years back with a trim kit from B&I. I plan do do this painting technique to the door pull cups like you have, in the spring.
Impressive work! Good to know there is a way to improve on the looks of the car's interior. Thanks for sharing the technique.
