Default XKR 1999 x100 floor panel welding

Hello,

I just bought a xkr last week with 200dkm. It needed some work.
Mostly suspension and some electronics, nothing i can't handle
But sadly there was a surprise when i first looked under the car after driving home. Both floor panels are corroded and also the rear a style subframe looks very bad. I have no experience with welding ? i would like some advise on this subject ? Are all xks sensitive for rust like this ?

Thanks in advance ! Samuel

The floor pan issue is very common, replacement panels are available. Post a picture of your rear subframe.

Started today with the carpet removal, found my rusty floor panels.
And also found something else.... Rust on the side of the tunnel on the passengers side ! Is this common ? What can i do about it ?
I ordered the floor panels from eBay, they arrived today and look OK !
Going to see a welder tomorrow hope its not to expensive :O

Welcome!

Good to see you on the forum and you'll find some experts on rust and corrosion here, and how they handled it. If you can, post some underside photos so they can evaluate things a little better.

Great job.

You'll feel a lot safer now your feet won't be going through the floor!

Mine just had that very same job done to pass the UK MOT inspection. Also the rear of the sills are worth checking...

Best wishes, Colin
