Default Battery bracket rubber

A simple question, I think. There is a rubber strip that attaches to the bracket that holds the battery in place. I assume that is just glued to the metal bracket? If glued, is it cut in the corners or just pushed into the bracket corner as far as it will go?
For some reason, I have two rubber strips. One is older and seems to fit on the bracket very nicely. The newer rubber seems to be too narrow. It's as if they found an extruded rubber material that was "close enough" and sold that as the bracket rubber. The bracket is after market, too, so maybe that is the issue.
Thanks in advance
Craig

Not glued. Held by profile & Thackeray washers on brass holding bolts on the metal strap. You can glue if you wish.

or use door edging trim which stays in place with its own adhesive but it is removable.
also it is thicker and keeps the metal bracket away from battery acid.
not original but does the job.

Battery acid has no effect whatsoever on the "rubber"

Thank you for the input, gentlemen!
I have had the Thackeray washers on my buy list for some time and no one seems to have them. Probably time to look again. I may have to get creative until I can find them.

all Jaguars must have used those spring washers in one place or another.

In the XJ-6 Series 3 (1980-1987), they are used in the pull handle to open the bonnet, so a salvage yard will have them.

The MG shops use many different sizes of Thackeray washer.
