Default 2005 xjr stuck in park !

Last week I jump in my Jag to go to an appointment and it would not shift out of park this happened when I was running late ,also happened after I was bragging to a bunch of friends that my car looks beautiful has no electrical issues and I like it much better than my same year S500 that one of the guys has . I removed the top wood cover and with a screwdriver turned screw type manual override and I am able to drive it . the P,R,N,D , sport, and traction mode light up in the greenish color none on the left side of the J gate light up also the sport , and traction doesn't seem to be working . I tried replacing the BLS and nothing ,also I get the beeping noise when I try and move it out of park with the ignition off .I appreciate any help , I love this car and would hate to give it up .

Welcome to the forum Mmj,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The transmission selector lever Interlock Solenoid is controlled by an input from the brake pedal switch through the CAN bus. If you have already replaced the Interlock Solenoid, the brake pedal switch must be suspect. You should post this issue in X350 tech section for advice from members with the same model.

Follow this link XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X350 forum for help, advice and information.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I'd have gone for Interlock Solenoid first and then Brake Light Switch. More Interlocks fail across the Jaguar models than Brake Light Switches.

With a correctly functioning Interlock ON, you shouldn't be able to move the transmission out of Park with the ignition OFF.

It doesn't shift out of park whether the ignition is on or off the only way I can move it is with a screwdriver and the wood cover off , im going to ck the solenoid to see if it gets power and ground
