Good Day All,
I think I committed a breach of forum etiquette by posting some questions on the XK8 Forum without introducing myself first. My apologies; I have ADD and tend to jump around topics (and careers) a lot.
By way of introduction, my name is Max, I'm 73 and semi-retired from 11 different careers (see ADD above). I work part-time as a construction consultant, play in both a classic rock and a blues band, and sail my boat on the Chesapeake Bay during the summer, weather permitting. Over the years I've owned an XK150, a 3.4 Mk 1, a 3.8 Mk 2, and an XJ6. There's also been a variety of other cars including some Mercedes Benz, an Alfa Romeo, and a 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE. At one point I even owned a foreign car repair shop, which cured me of the "master mechanic" fantasy.
My current Jag is a 2000 XK8 convertible with 58,000 original miles (I hope). Anyway, so far so good; everything works as it should and the car runs very well. I'm hoping to keep it that way and avoid the dreaded chain tensioner, chain guide and transmission nightmares.
There you have it; looking forward to being a part of this great forum.

Welcome to the forum Max,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you have already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You can also visit the US North East Region forum by following this link USA North East - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
