New Member - My first Jaguar
Hi all,
I am new to Jaguar ownership and purchased my first Jaguar last year. The car is wonderful but has been challenging at times, especially very recently.
I drive a 2003 X350 4.2 NA which really puts a smile on my face whilst driving it but lately is starting to make me doubt my purchase.
Hello to all and I look forward to contributing to the forum and sharing my experiences with you all.
Thanks,
Chris

Hello, Chris,
This is what's happening with your Jaguar; it's like that with just about Any car after a year's ownership, but especially Jaguars.
It feels like you've begun to take its reliability for granted. And it's determined to do something about that, to make you again Appreciate when nothing is going wrong.
Those of us who have owned a Jaguar for a few years can tell you stories that would make you swear these car have not only intelligence, but the deliberate Will to make owners' lives miserable in order to get attention. The only cure is to capitulate and give the car what it wants.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for all the welcomes. Glad to be part of these forums. I've updated my signature now with my car details.
I've managed to fix most of the issues that I've had so far with the car but sometimes it just seems like one problem straight after the other at the moment.
Thanks,
Chris

Ahhh Cornwall
such a beautiful place.
Ive just got back from 2 weeks holiday in a remote cottage near St Erth and loved driving my Jaguar around the country lanes.
Glad of the electric folding wing mirrors on mine !
Enjoy the forum and welcome.

Thanks Busa. Cornwall is so very much a lovely place to live. I too have the electric folding wing mirrors but one works when it decides ! Even though I've taken them apart and cleaning off the corrosion and lubricated the whole mechanism.
Glad you enjoyed Cornwall so much.

With regards to Cornwall, there is a large part of me that yearns to live down there, but I'm not quite ready yet.
Enjoy the forum.
Hi Busa,
The wing mirror cleaning is actually very straightforward. I have some pictures which I will turn into a tutorial at some point. You basically put the wing mirror into the opposite direction all the way. Then you remove the small access panel from the bottom of the mirror. Then remove the wing mirror rear cover to be able to fully access the rest of the mechanism. You then spray loads of air and lubricant into the mechanism. I used silicon based lubricant. I also used a small old toothbrush to get into the mechanism to assist. I used some sand paper as well I think. A word of warning, cover the whole area behind and under the wing mirror or you will get oil and other stains down the paintwork. Cover the door, wing and onto the top of the bonnet just to be sure. I got a massive amount of corrosive compound come out and it at least made the mirrors able to move as they were completely stuck beforehand. My drivers mirror now works fine, and has worked for months, but the passenger mirror is the intermittent one. I'm going to do the process again at some point, but I have bigger issues at the moment to fix.
On the subject of Cornwall, we decided to just take the risk and move to this beautiful county. It was well worth it. I get out of work and on my way home I am immediately relaxed and able to recover from a hectic day. Once I'm home I can just switch off and completely get away from things.
When you get a chance to make the move then go for it. When you are down here again then give us a shout and maybe we can meet up for a cuppa or a beer as I am not far from St Erth.
Cheers,
Chris
