Default Winter Storage Problems

I live in NYC and I have a 2005 Jaguar XJ8L VDP. I have the car covered in a locked driveway with an extra-large cover that is held in place with cement blocks at all 4 corners.I am looking for a way to keep the underside warm since the car cover easily reaches the ground, so the suspension and other electronic parts won’t freeze.I was thinking of using a bird cage radiant heat tile under the car, but that idea scares me. I have a bird and use a radiant heat tile all winter long, 24/7, and never had a problem; but that is inside my house. I’m hoping someone has some ideas/thoughts.

Thank you!

First let me say welcome to the forum. There are a lot of great folks here that are always willing to help a Jaguar owner out.
I had my XJ8 and XK8 in Alaska for over 4 years, the XJ unfortunately was always outside the garage queen XK8 stayed snug and warm in the winters. The cars never had any problems with the electronics and cold weather.

I would be hesitant to add heat underneath a car cover. You are going to introduce temperature differences and cause sweating. That moisture is going to do more to damage the electronics than anything winter could do. Also, the humidity in the cabin will cause mold to form, I know from experience when sunny days would raise the interior temperature for the XJ.

Personally I would just insure the coolant level is correct and the amount is right for the expected temperature. I would either add a battery tender or remove the battery completely.
