Default Car intermittently, temporarily stops responding to key fobs

For the 2nd time in two weeks, the S-Type I’ve had for 2 months has stopped responding to the key fobs. I can unlock and lock the door with the key but can’t unlock, lock or alarm the car, until, sometime later, I can. This affects both key fobs.

Is this a known S-Type issue? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Rhett

I don't know if there's anyone out there who can help but if there is: Yesterday afternoon, almost exactly 24 hours after the key fobs stopped responding, they failed again. I opened the door with the key, started the car just fine, drove home and the fobs worked again. The only thing I can think that both days had in common was that it was reasonably hot inside the car when I tried to unlock it.

Any thoughts? Anyone?

You can try cleaning the switches https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-issues-53186/ it is also possible to replace the switches if the cleaning doesn't help https://www.ebay.com/itm/micro-switc...75.c100623.m-1

Thing is, when this happens, the car doesn't respond to either fob/switch. When it "recovers", the car responds to both again. Since it happens that both fobs "fail" and "recover" at the same time, I'm thinking it has more to do with the car than the fobs.

Bob, no hate or intentional ignoring of them. In my defense, the way the TSBs are grouped in the forum is less than intuitive and unless you know the answer you're looking for is buried in there... It may just be me, but judging from what sounds like your exasperation, it might be others too.

Anyway this is very helpful. Thank you. I'll go digging through the TSBs before I post another question and hope to find what I need.

Best,
Rhett

The TSBs might be better sorted on Gus's site. I sent him a DVD with all of mine and I'm sure he has more from other sources.

They do seem scattered throughout this forum.

Who is Gus? More to the point, where is his site?

Thanks again.
