Default coolant hose quality

Gentlemen I have just gone through the process of having all of my coolant hose's replaced on my '03 STR ( after a couple of failures-though it was a good idea) . I have now had 2 of the brand new hoses fail in the first few weeks!! Both hoses failed near the clamp and the second one came completely apart! Has anyone had this experience? Is there anything my mechanic is doing wrong to make this happen? He services all kind of Jags Audi's BMW and Merc's so is very used to working on imports and has done a great job on all other repairs. He has never seen anything like this before. Anyone else had an issue? I am stumped and have less confidence than before the replacement- thank Paul

I can't remember the last time I had a new hose fail quickly ... perhaps your shop got a bad batch ... since you say that they have experience, I will not consider the usual failure of clamp/hose overtightening.

Doesn't sound like OEM.

In addition to the hoses, were the clamps OEM or aftermarket worm gear type?

Default hose failures

Thanks for the replies - yes OEM from the Jag dealer and the clamps appear to be aftermarket worm gear types-could this be the issue? thanks Paul

Yes I think it is possible the clamps were too tight. They do have a sharp edge around the band; certainly so when you compare them to OEM clamps. Maybe go around and loosen each clamp and monitor wear?

I changed all 18 hoses in my STR about 9 months ago. I got (most of) the OEM hoses from eBay, and my indie did the work, using OEM clamps.

Only 1 problem, caused by a hose that was too close to a moving belt. No problem in neutral, but the slight engine block movement when the car was in gear brought the belt into contact with the hose. One day later, a leak from the cut hose.
