2005 JAG S-TYPE V6

About one year ago, the wife and I had a professional (not Jag dealership) local mechanic replace the front wheel struts of our 2005 Jag S-Type V6.
We went non Jag dealership to save some money because one of us was out of work at the time.

A few months ago I popped the engine hood and noticed that the air intake and the entire plastic cover that spans across the front of the engine (on top of radiator) was just laying there with no clips or bolts holding it down.

Obviously I could go to the jag dealer and buy the things, but money is still tight and was hoping that there is 'after market' parts I can buy.

Will someone point me in the right direction or post a link directly to the clips or bolts I need to purchase? I also need some engine hood struts, the hood keeps falling.

respectfully, thank you.

The sight shield retaining clips (XR87509) are 2.28US$ each from Jaguar. You may be able to find something similar from a Ford agency that will work as well.

For the air intake tube missing the two fasteners (C2S3482) are also 2.28US$ each. You may be able to find generic replacements from a local auto supply house.

The clips to hold the black plastic shield down are also a very common Ford part. So if you have a Ford dealer near by get them for a Lincoln LS.

The ones that hold the fresh air intake are much harder to find and I have only gotten them from Jaguar.

Just called my local Jag dealership and they did not recognize XR78509, but instead stated that I need Part#XR812941010 for $8.30 each and I need 6. Part C2S3482 was $8.50 each and I need two.

I looked on Jagbits and the price was just slightly lower.

are the parts that you listed for a 05 S-type? Where can I get them for $2.28 each?

The part number for the sight shield retainer clips has been superceded to XR812941.

You can purchase them from Gaudin Jaguar in Las Vegas Nevada for 2.28US$ each plus any taxes and shipping.

Only 4 are required not 6. I believe Jon89 went to Lowes or Homie D and purchased a couple 1/2" long bolts that he threaded into the holes, you might want to ask him or do an advanced search as I recall he mentioned the size in his thread about them.

This is a link for the hood struts.

05 2005 Jaguar S Type Hood Strut - Body Mechanical & Trim - Lesjofors, PartsMaster, Rhino Pac - PartsGeek

There are more places selling them that will link to a search of "Jaguar S type 2005 hood struts."

The plastic pieces are called "plastic rivets " and the Ford ones go for $5 for a pack of 8 at O'Reilly's or AutoZone. As long as all of them match, no one will really notice. OK, maybe a lot of you on this forum....but still is better than obvious empty hole.

+1 on asking SNG Barratt. Free to ask and tell them you saw them on JF.

As Rick mentioned, I did indeed replace those lousy plastic clips in January 2010 with hex bolts that I purchased from Ace Hardware. I played around with my collection of spare bolts until I found one that fit perfectly. The next time I went to Ace, I took that bolt with me and purchased three more just like it. Total cost was probably $1.00 or so. Always glad to replace plastic fasteners with metal ones on both of our Jaguars....
