Default pan kit

I read in the stickies about this kit, people have bought and used it for their cars

New Auto Transmission Oil Filter Pan Repair Kit Fit BMW 6HP19 24117571217 | eBay

The site says that it won't fit a Jaguar Str, but they also said their charts are not accurate.

Before buying, does anyone know if this will fit a 2005 str?

You need a kit that fits a ZF 6HP26 transmission because that is what you have. The link you posted is for a ZF 6HP19 transmission....

In case they also do a BMW 6HP26 one, it will likely have a metal pan - which our cars don't have. It may work but I don't recall anyone taking the chance.

This is the kit I bought on eBay ! It's a steel pan coversion kit also
Comes with hex bolt conversion great idea ! It's only $45 to change the filter next time as you don't have to replace the whole pan each service ! Can get the oil with the kit aswell
But I got mine locally

Good to know that we have a steel pan option that fits. If we decide to keep our S-Type and XK8 for the long haul, I would be inclined to go this route the next time I decide to do a ZF drain-and-fill on either one of them. My S-Type's original plastic pan is now pushing eleven years old. My wife's XK8's original plastic pan was replaced by Klaus' CTSC kit in July 2013....

I used a 6r80 aluminum deep pan for mustang on my 03 STR worked fine dropped temp (3 qt. more fluid) trans shifts better! I used Mercon SP, did not do a full flush. it does sit 3" lower, could not find a 2" lower did not want to take time to cut and weld. I hit (bottomed) once on a mall speed bump drove over two fast! been fine on highway and in town 3 mo of driving .

You have a temperature gauge for your transmission fluid temperature?

What numbers do you see?
