I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to X-Type forum. As stated at the top of Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre ...THIS SECTION IS NOT FOR TECHNICAL QUESTIONS.

No, there isn't Utter nonsense. The important thing is to get a battery of the same size and same "cold cranking amps" capacity. Batteries are identified by "group" which primarily indicates the dimensions...
03Jaguar, there are only 2 companies in the US that make batteries (Exide and Johnson Controls). So, regardless of what you see on the shelf, you take the same size battery, it came off of 1 of 2 assembly lines. The only differences is a sticker on the outside and the warrantee that the company puts with the battery. There are a few small companies out there that make specialty batteries, but your Jag used a run of the mill battery that has nothing really special about it.
Grab a few batteries and put them side by side. I bet you will find that the plastic case that they sit in will be identical. The tops will be identical. The only difference is the color of stickers on the outside. You see differences, then it was made by the other company. But, you should be able to find a bunch of batteries that look alike there too. If you do some searching under my name, I would say 5 or so years ago, I had a big post that I put out there about who makes what batteries.
Sounds like to me that those companies do not want to deal with high end cars and gave that reason to send you on your merry way.

The battery installed in your car was originally made by VARTA.
The battery costs too much to ship to the US so Jaguar contracted Interstate to substitute the batteries for new car warranty in the early 2000s.

Yes, there is a Jaguar battery, but it is expensive and it not required. Any brand battery of the same type with do just a well. A Group H7 will give you the best CCA. If AAA said that then you need a different service because you were lied to.
