Default Windows - anti trap feature

Lately I had trouble with the starter and got it fixed at an electrician. To fix this fault he had to disconnect the battery. I lost everything the radio, one touch window operation etc. I managed to get everything in order except for one thing which I tried several times but in vain. This is the windows anti trap feature and I need this working as I have a child with special needs. Can someone help me. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum KNARF,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum and given it a more appropriate title. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Hi KNARF.
I too live in Malta, St Paul's Bay area, and have a 2003 X Type 2.1 petrol. I believe I have read somewhere in the forum that after you have disconnected the battery for any reason, you have to be careful when you reconnect it to make a quick sound connection with the negative terminal, not letting it spark. If I remember, if this has happened you need to remove the negative cable from the battery for 30 minutes then try reconnecting again. Also make sure you have a really good connection to the chassis, as a good connection is vital for these cars. I have had resent occasions to disconnect my battery and have not had any issues with anything on re-connection.
Hope this helps.

Alan.

Any time you disconnect the battery, you need to reprogram the windows. Just do this by pressing the window switch down to open window, keep pressing it without letting up till it goes all the way down. You should then hear a "click" from inside the door. Then do the same when going up, all the way up till you hear the click. Do this for every door and recheck to make sure the windows are going up and down by one touch. Recheck the anti trap is working. Report back and let us know what happens

I tried pressing all window switches down and up and hold the switches for three seconds but I did not hear any clicks and the anti trap still not working, otherwise all is functioning well even the one touch window operation.

I thought it could not be disabled. It's a safety feature and normally can't be disabled, let alone by something so simple as a battery disconnect.

Anyone know?

Also... why do you think it's not working?

After a battery disconnect, the ANTI-TRAP feature is reset as follows:

This is from the 2008MY Owner's Handbook.
