Default Ideas on Exhaust Modifications

Hello,

I've got a 2009 Jag XF 4.2L N/A and am looking for some ideas on how to make some noise on a budget. The car's got some fantastic induction noise, but unfortunately that's all I can hear when I'm driving it. Only when my friend floored when he drove it in front of me did I hear some tuneful, albeit muted, noise. I've seen a lot of the aftermarket exhausts like paramount and mina but I'm not able to afford them. Are there any ways to modify the exhaust so I'm able to hear some revs and hopefully a crackle or two? I'm considering it but also afraid of doing a complete muffler delete and being stuck with something that's not tasteful or drones. I would love to be able to actually hear the V8 for once and love a loud car when I'm pushing it. Any ideas?

I think you can just unbolt the rear mufflers if you want?
When I replaced the rear mufflers on my 2005 S Type R I started the engine without any mufflers just to see what it sounded like.

See if that's loud enough?

Well just another comment?
I was installing the Mina exhaust. You might as well save your money. The difference in sound and power were so small I am not sure there was any improvement?
Definitely a tiny bit louder but not much.
I got a deal on them for half price and I still paid $500 for 2 mufflers!!

ebay - electric cutouts.. for about $150.00 you can get the "y pattern" or the "downpipe" pattern dual kits and wire them to run on one controller, which is just a keyfob. look for my post on this install - maybe 18 months ago?? have been in service without an issue and it's wonderful to have the loud grumble of no mufflers and then switch back to quiet in 2 seconds when my radar detector goes off or when i want to be civilized.. (usually it's the radar detector that prompts it..)

I'm surprised you can't hear much difference with Mina. Mine is noticeably louder - not distasteful but definitely a much loader growl and roar. It's the 5.0 V8 SC
What engine is in your car - your profile says S Type but I think you have an XJ too?

I actually saw your video on youtube a few months back, it does sound good. Was there a certain company you got the cutouts from?

Yes I had a 2005 STR and now have a 2014 XJR.
Yes I think your right they are a bit louder and I enjoyed the sound for sure. But for the cost I guess I expected more?
They were lighter and very well made but again the beautiful polished SS is eye candy you put under the car.
