Default Sluggish Acceleration

Guys, I have been noticing sluggish acceleration. As of late the car "hesitate" for a second before jerking forward and accelerating. If I am merging into a lane and floor it the car waits a second before lurking forward and picking up speed. No codes. Any ideas? Feels like a delay between pushing the pedal and car actually picking up speed. It's a 2012 XFR with 55k miles on it.

Have a look at fuel trims.

Hot engine, at idle, to start with.

One very simple, quick and easy thing you can try first is to clean the MAF sensors.
Take them off (takes 30 seconds each side), spray with MAF sensor cleaner, put them back on and test.
Do you have K&N or similar air filters? If so there is a good chance the MAF sensor wires are coated with filter oil.

Good call on the MAF sensors. Didn't think about it. Used to do it on my M5. Will try that first. No K&N filters. Stock air boxes.

Regular mode. I have a Mina Exhaust but in the last several months when I let off the accelerator I am hearing a lot more snap/crackle/pop.

Dealership wants to charge $500 to perform a:

"On your Jaguar being direct injected the Induction/Injection cleanings are combined in what is know as a GDI (gasoline direct injection) service. Air services from BG the company's products we use."

I am not buying that you can spray anything down the intake to clean off the thick tar-like substance that is caked on to the valves and intake ports from years of driving. I hand cleaned my valves when I was changing out the plastic and it was very hard to remove even after soaking with various solvents intended for the purpose of cleaning the valve, like the BG stuff. I ended up seeing throttle body cleaner to do the best job.

You could have dirty fuel injectors, so another cheap and easy "fix" is to chuck a can of BG44K in the fuel tank.
It's what many dealers use as part of each service and it is generally considered to be the best fuel system cleaner additive around.
But, as lotus says, it can't and won't do anything to clean crud off the back of the inlet valves or around the inlet ports.

so has the issue been solved? I have an XJ 5.0 SC with the exact same issue you described. I tried changing the fuel filter, transmission fluid and filter, and intake hose. Still the issue persists.
would appreciate your feedback!
