Default Right exhaust pin dislodged

Hi was washing the cat and noticed the right exhaust pipe hanging lower than the left pipe.

On closer inspection it appears the pin holding it in the bracket dislodged.

Anyone familiar with this? Curious how it may have happened and what’s involved in re-seating. Uneducated visual guess is it’s pretty simple for a tech.

To my eye it looks like the red 'rubber' isolator has split, and allowed the hanger to drop free.

XJLSAN, like was mentioned, the rubber grommet ripped (look at the 6 o'clock position). You will need to get a new grommet to go in there. They are a few bucks. To install, you simply push it over the open end of the exhaust hanger (it will expand to get past the bulb on the end) and then you bolt it to the frame of the car. Probably take 15 minutes to replace.

Agreed.
A new hanger is needed, fairly standard design/type/shape/size that should be available at most parts stores or at least at an exhaust shop.
You will need lube and a pry bar to remove the busted one and fit the new one.

Thanks all

Funny enough it recently spent 2 months in the dealer shop getting the infotainment software upgraded (another story…which also resulted in the par for the course coolant leak that they got to repair) and in the “multi point inspection” video I can see it dangling but no mention in the tech’s report!

So it was off then and not noticed by the techs…great attention to detail!

When I had my free inspection, they saw it and wanted $200 to replace it! I had it ordered from amazon for $13 before we made it back to the advisors desk. Simple install.

This one even had the 'Jaguar' logo.

Old thread but I've just changed these and wanted to add that it's worth jacking the car up to do this, it is miles easier to do from underneath than trying to reach around the tailpipe trim. 2 minutes per side with the help of a bit of WD40.

The amazon mounts I bought are much much harder than the OE ones that came off, so they could potentially lead to more vibration.

Wow this must be a common thing! I had the right side of my 2015 XJL do the exact same thing and I fixed in a year ago. Sorry I do not recall what I loosened, but I had it on a lift and it must have been obvious since I was able to get the hanger pin back into grommet and no troubles afterwards. I don't recall it looking any better than the picture showed - meaning it was a 130k, 2015 grommet that's lived its life in New England.
