Last week drove the car in 99 deg stop and go traffic, got of the freeway parked at Ralphs came out 10 minutes later the engine started but immediately
miss fired and died , tried that 3 times with same result.
I waited about 15 min for things to cool off and tried it again, it started and ran fine.
At home I hooked up the scan tool and it said it was a ( Intake air temp sensor circuit intermittent high voltage) P1111
I've since replaced the MAF/IAT sensor unit and so far the motor is happy, But
I tried to erase the code but its still showing the same notation.
Am I using the scan tool wrong, I need to make a road trip this Saturday but am concerned it might happen again
Any ideas ??
Thanks
P1111 code means that OBDII readiness cycle has been complete. P1000 means that readiness cycle has not been complete. No need to fix it. Nothing wrong with car from that perspective.
However misfire code should be present is it was really a misfire. Usually misfire goes together with "restricted performance" message displayed in message center.
In the middle of March 99degF?! Wow!
The code displayed was after the car had cooled down, at home . The scanner didn't say "miss fire" that was my description, see pic of scan screen, Thanks for the vote of confidence to be able to use it Saturday.
I suggest do a search on this forum for P1111.
Another suggestion is get a code reader specific to JLR vehicles.
If you do a Google search for DTC P1111 you will find that this code means different things on different vehicles:
Chevy Malibu:
A P0111 code on a Chevy Malibu indicates a range or performance issue with the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit.
Nissan:
The P1111 code indicates a fault in the intake valve timing circuit, typically linked to the variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid or camshaft position sensor.
JLR:
What is the code P1111 on a Jaguar?
The P1111 is a readiness code indicating that the ECM has completed a drive cycle, while the P1000 is a readiness code signifying that the ECM has not completed a drive cycle.
Good luck!
YOU cannot clear a P1000.
The readiness monitor will change that to a P1111 when all are complete.
Either DTC P1000 or P1111 will always be present in the ECM!!
P1000 circle of insanity
The P1000 code is present when the ECM has had all DTCs ‘cleared’ from the non volatile memory or the battery power to the ECM is interupted.
The P1000 is changed to P1111 when the readiness monitors are completed by a specific ‘drive-cycle'.
People often see the P1000 DTC and try to clear it. This resets the DTC to P1000. (again)
Then the car is driven until the monitors change the DTC to P1111. (some guides reference this as a fault with the intake air temp sensor)
Jaguar P1111 is just the ECM ‘being-happy’, not a fault.
People see the P1111 and decide it must be a fault and clear the DTC.
The ECM now defaults to P1000 and the circle of insanity continues.
Then the car is driven until the monitors change the DTC to P1111.
The code is cleared and it reverts to P1000.

I got my new code reader specific to JLR vehicles.
It looks like I need to do a "drive cycle"
How many miles do you suggest ?
After the drive cycle do I then re scan it and hope for all's Good with no mention of a IAT sensor
Somewhere in the forum there is a post that explain what needs to happen to complete a drive cycle.
Consider that the messages are written by programmers, they are not really human; furthermore, English programmers! There is a big difference between British and American English, that is if you did not know.
"Drive Cycle" is a programmers speak for collecting information from large number of inputs and not just once, multiple times and in various conditions. You can talk to car mechanic at inspection station and he will tell you that if readiness is not complete, go ahead come back in a week and if readiness completed he will give you inspection sticker.
Back to your question: it may take a full tank of gas or more to complete a driving cycle.
Don't worry about it: there is nothing wrong with your car. Just like @motorcarman said: do not clear OBDII. You can still scan DTC, just do not clear OBDII, clearing them is what resetting the clock.

Wow thats a lot of very good info, Much appreciated ! I'll do my road trip this Saturday with confidence and every couple of days there after
check in with my new scan tool to see if I've completed the "English Version" of the drive cycle.
Thanks for all the help !
