Where to find this multimedia connector?
I've disassembled the entertainment controls in my rear armrest to have a look what could be done to make a permanent connection for my iPhone. After opening the module I found that the aux is also connected to the pins in this connector. That might be an option to avoid soldering the thin wires that are inside the modules. It's a 20 pin DIN like connector.
Problem is I can't find this connector (or the actually needed opposite part) anywhere. Been around Google a few times and found out it's also used in the head unit of Subaru but no luck finding it.
Does anyone know where to buy this?

OK so quick question. I assume the round female plug is what you're referring to? And if so, it doesn't plug into anything now?
Just wondering it's current purpose before I go off in the wrong direction.

No, I believe this connector is the RC3 in the electrical diagram and is used to connect to the audio / video selector of the rear entertainment system. Mine doesn't have that but does have the multi media control center in the arm rest. From this I can control the audio in the car. Since it also has an aux input it would be an option to make a permanent connection for an external source like an iPhone in the front.
I would like to get the male counterpart of this female chassis part.

You need to remove the bezel around the controls. Start prying with a very small screwdriver from the hinge. If you've lifted it a bit simply pull it straight up and it will snap out. See pics.

I have a Kenwood CD Player unit that connects to a remote 6 disc changer in the trunk in my series III Jaguar. The connecter you have appears to be the same on the cable that connects the two at the changer. The other end that connects to the head unit is square.
Hope this helps

Need to get this thread from the death. It has been poped a rear control module on auction for cheap. Is it enough to plug it into optical loom and feed it by external source via AUXes onboard? Can it work standalone or i need also audio/video selector module which discussed in this thread? And also in practice how it looks when i feed source via rear armrest auxes, can i control volume from the steering wheel and should i choose rear aux each time i start the car or it holds the source last used?? Just have an idea to put wifi receiver inside the armrest.. many many thanks in advance to clarify this quaetions for me.
