Default Door lock problem

Hi,
Every time I unlock my doors using the remote there is no problem at all. Every time I try to lock the doors with the remote it locks, then unlocks, then locks and finally unlocks fairly quickly.
I had this problem on another Jaguar I owned. I took out the whole locking mechanism and cleaned it and all was fine.
The driver's side door is the one giving me trouble. Whenever I lock the doors the driver's door does not lock (the top knob on the door panel does not o down. If I force it, it goes right back up). This time I can't get the locking mechanism (black box) out of the car. There seems to be a linkage from the door handle and one from from the door key lock that needs to be removed.
I just do not see enough to see how these linkages should be unattached. Does anyone have instructions and/or pictures. Also, how do I disconnect the long cable from the lock to the interior door handle (or can I clean everything without disconnecting the cable).
I will move onto other things that need repairs while I wait for your responses.
Thanks so much,
Jomo

Thanks,
Jomo

There is at least ONE opening (Door or boot lid) that is NOT locking or REPORTING locked!

All doors and boot lid need to AGREE that they are locked or all default to OPEN.
Are there messages on the INSTRPK indicating OPEN when all are closed?

No door open on the instrument panel.
I forgot to state that the drivers door is the one giving me trouble (I'll update that). When I lock my door, only the driver's lock does not close.

The key doesn't work either at this point.

G’day Jomo,

Does your boot/trunk lock and unlock normally using your remote fob? Sometimes the micro in the latch can break and the car locking system is affected. Does the boot/trunk open light ever go out?

This micro switch can be replaced. Pic attached.

Cheers,
Jeff.

The boot is fine. I just verified that the light goes out.

G'day Jomo,

You can get exploded diagrams of most of your car parts from here,

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...-jaguar-parts/

and this link shows a door lock and various connections.

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

There is also a micro in the door latch which can malfunction but you would have to get one out of another door latch, or replace the whole latch, as I don't think the switch is available as a separate part. It is a bit tricky to change this micro as it is wired into a single plug with the other wires.

Cheers,
Jeff.

I just pulled out the door lock actuator from the front driver side door. It was not that bad of a job. I guess small hands like mine came in handy.
Here is what I found.
The very first thing I did after starting this job was to disconnect the electrical plug to the actuator.
If I pushed down on the knob on the top of the door panel I felt resistance. I saw which part on the actuator was trying to move so I tried moving that part by hand. Still had resistance (remember that I disconnected the plug). I was a bit confused about that. I removed I think four linkages (all of them) and got the actuator out of the car. While in my hand I was able to move the actuator lever (or whatever it is called) and it did so with no resistance. That told me that one of the linkages was stopping me from moving the lever (that is, stopped me from locking my car). I guess that I can put back one linkage at a time to figure out which one is bad. I am just wondering if there is another way and which parts should I lubricate and with what?

Thanks,
Jomo

Default I noticed..

When I use the actual key to turn and un lock the doors (on driver door) and get in that way, the car thinks a door is open. (No warning light) I 'fixed' it by locking the door with the key turn. Problem gone. The use the fob to lock unlock. I deduce the key hole there has some glitch that thinks the key is in the door? But when I lock (turn left) it gets right. That's mine.
