Default XJR Revised Crank Sensor Brackets

Does anyone know if Andy Stodard (XJRengineer) is still offering the revised crank sensor brackets for the XJR-6? Mine is a 97. Can't seem to find any current info on the subject or how to get a hold of him. Thanks

Word has it that he finished the last order and called it quits.

Cheers

As far as I know he has stopped production for right now since it got too hard to keep up with the demand. The best way to get a hold of one is to find someone with a spare laying around or off of a car that's being parted out but other than that I don't know if any other ways.
I think the best way to get a hold of him is the private message him on these forums and just be patient. I'm sure he gets a lot of messages from other forum members.

Here is the original thread for Andy's bracket and the latest news. You can send him email or a PM. His email is in the thread.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...engines-66536/

Bottom line, he has ceased production, but he is keeping a list of interested folks, and I think that list is up to around 15-20 owners now. So for anyone interested, I'd suggest at least letting him know. Best case might be that if there is enough interest, it may be worth his while to make one last run.

Maybe we can even offer a slight premium over his original asking price as an incentive? That may be an option.

....I'm in the market for one too

Or if you cant wait, you may convince him to work on your ecu. He is the only one who does this and it does not require finding other interested parties to make this modification. just send him your ecu and arrange payment, that is if he is still offering this service.

I think he's getting more messages than he was getting orders.

Dear All,
Due to the continuing demand, I have decided to restart production of my revised crank sensor brackets for AJ16 engines. My wife will be processing any enquiries and orders for brackets on my behalf at her email address helenstodart@gmail.com . However, she will not be able to answer any technical question. For that I would refer you my original thread.

DIY Modification to Improve Performance and Fuel Economy of AJ16 and AJ6 Engines

There are couple of questions that I am regularly asked about these brackets, which I shall endeavour to answer below

1. It is not necessary to use a higher octane fuel than 95RON (approx. 90 pump octane / 90 anti-knock index (AKI))
2. the bracket will also fit AJ6 engines fitted to XJ40 after VIN 667829 and XJS vehicles after VIN 179737

Thank you to everyone for your continued interest in these brackets.

I have to say that the andy bracket along with a better intake will absolutely transform your car. Best bang for your buck, and believe me I have spent much and this is hands down the best mod you can do for your xjr.

What intake option did you use?

I would interested to know what air intake you would recommend as well. I know you can drop in a K&N filter (Part #33-2003) into the stock intake.

Is it worth it to go to Mina Gallery for a aftermarket intake or to try and fabricate one on your own?

If anyone has had success fabricating one on their own can and feels it is worht doing can you let us know what parts you used and what filter part number (or filter dimensions) you used?

Thanks

I have tried every imaginable intake combination out there, and I have come to the conclusion that the best bet is to replace the original filter with a k&n or just using a cone filter, instead of the air box , with a heat shield is your best option. I personally use the cone filter, but during the summer months I go back to the stock air box with a k&n filter. The only thing of any value would be the heat shield because you can buy a cone filter anywhere.

A heat shield is easy enough to fab. from aluminium sheet. I posted some descriptions and pics of the set-up I put together several months ago. I run the cone filter right through our hot summer months with the shield in place, and no problems. Piecing an intake system together is also pretty easy, and way cheaper than buying from Mina Gallery. Having said that, the Mina kit includes a SS pipe with a welded connection for the hose that's attached to the bottom of the stock air box on the XJR (not applicable on N/A engines, so the connection has to be blanked off).

If it's of any help, see posts #223 & 224 at:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...engines-66536/

On my car, I've found this mod. along with the Andy bracket has made a big difference to performance and a minor benefit to fuel economy.
