ODD No Codes---Anyone since this before?
Hello,
1998 Jaguar XJR 113,--- miles. Florida car clean. I picked this up for short money and obviously knew what I was getting into..
I have gone through every electrical connections & relays, fine sanded the male connections and CRC'd then dielectric greased. from the engine bay to the rear tails to the speed sensors to the ones under the dash. * have not removed the cluster " I did replace the coolant temperature sensor for kicks in that it fixed a 1642 in my Naples Jag. I preface the above because I have an ABS light on and Stability Control/Traction Control and a rough idle with no loss of power. * no blocked hoses, all vac lines are on and the drivers side oil cover breathing line is clear, ( probably a clogged FI or a bad pack?) but NO CODES. I am not use to this not seeing a CODE in a Jaguar and seeing the lights or trouble warnings. I have done what I know to do with the above. But barring throwing parts at with a new ABS Module/off ebay, Body Control Module/off ebay do any of the Guru's on here have an idea what I may try? " I am going to remove the cluster tomorrow and clean " but any other ideas?\\
thanks

Ok, you got me. What is "ODD"?
All of those symptoms could be caused by a weak battery, but I would think you would have charged it up by now. So, the other possibility is that you have several distinct problems. The ABS stuff can be a module motor connector corrosion (see archives for ABS module repair), or a bad sensor. After you start the car, does the fault appear instantly, or after you reach a few MPH? If the former, suspect the wheel sensor. The ABS does not report OBD codes, but it does have codes that can be read by dealer level software or AutoEnginuity with Jag extensions.
I suggest you leave the "cluster" alone since no diagnosis for it being a problem exists, at least as far as you have told the story so far.
As to the idle- what do your fuel trims look like?

thanks for your reply! Odd = strange/// but after your post it is not! ODD//////////////
I never knew the ABS could not be picked up on my scan tool.
Battery takes and holds a charge. I also cleaned the battery connections and cleaned the ground on the starter. The ABS light and Traction comes on after 90 seconds and or does not come on at all and then comes on. Do you think I should take off the ABS pump and press the plungers and clean it up? It is intermittent and goes away above idle so I need to clean the connections on the TB... My friend has the Jag/Rover software you speak of at his shop. I am going Saturday and will advise. I did discover that the previous owners were resetting the JAg ECU by removing the battery cable instead of fixing the problem.
Update: I determined that the console transmission shifter assembly is busted when I had the key off and was able to move the transmission from park to reverse.( somebody/previous owners had a tantrum )
I ordered a salvage yard XJR component off of ebay. Any helpful hints to replacing it? That maybe the culprit? It arrives Friday so will see.
Looking forward to tracking this down...Its like a mystery everytime with these cars LOL...

I replaced the entire console shifter assembly from an 02 XJR from California and the transmission faults are gone. The shifter adjustment cable was the hardest thing to get right and I still was not able to get the R line up in its recessed area.. oh well.
I went to my buddies shop on Friday and used his actual Dealer software he owns. The ABS/Stability says its the ABS Module. I ordered a complete set up from a California 01 donor XJR..Also did a trans service and replaced the fuel filter, emptied the rear end and filled... Will advise.
Detailed the car yesterday. The carnival respray is sharp.
