Default Where do I begin? 2002 XJR

Hello Jag forum;

I have a 2002 XJR that is having multiple issues, and want some input from people whom may have come across the same issue. I had the check engine come on, scanned and found:

Code 128H/296 undocumented code

Erased code, and 2 days later code 128H/296 undocumented code returned.

I love this car! I have owned it for 6 months. Thus far, I have changed rear lower shock bushings, front lower ball joints, sway bar links, changed super charger oil, engine oil, alternator and supercharger belts, brake caliper pin bushings and one washer nozzle.

I have used the search bar on the top right, with and without google, tried google directly, identifix, and found nothing in all 4 areas!
Does this have to go to the dealer? What the heck is it?

OBD comms failure? Maybe your scanner isn't compatible with the Jag codes? If it's an OBD code it should be in the P**** format, like P1000 or any 4 number digits following the P for regular system codes, or B****/C**** for special codes.

You should try to find another code scanner than can communicate with Jaguar. Not sure exactly which one, but there are many members on here who have them.

Once you get one, read the codes and see what's logged and let us know what you find...

Do you get any specific warnings on the dash ( Restricted Performance, Engine Failsafe, Stability Control Fail, eg ) or just check engine light?
Any other symptoms - engine running rough, loss of power, etc..

No other specific warnings like the ones you mention. Once in a while, when I'm feeling frisky I will hammer it off the line. If I loose a bit of traction, the stability / ABS will kick in for a second. That's it.
I have other issues (security system is wonky, mirrors sometimes don't work) but this doesn't give me ANY hints of what it is and there is no mention of it anywhere! I did get B codes and P codes. This code- no B or P. 128H/296

I use the ELM327 with Torque App and its real good at retrieving codes, it doesn't read too deep. Be sure your squarely in the OBD socket.

Used a Snap on scanner (Modis). Should have the same capabilities as the ELM327 if not more.
so, has anyone ever seen or heard of this 128H/296 code?

No. It doesn't match any OBD kind of code for any car.

Get support from the scanner maker.

Since you say you got B and P codes - what codes were they. Lets leave that odd one out for a sec and investigate the others for now....

No more P or B codes since the clearing.
I will post Snap-ons answer when I get some clarification!
Thanks for responding everyone.
I appreciate it!

After clearing the code, it never came back. Sold the car. I missed it so much! I ended up buying a 2003 XJR a few months later!
Thanks for all the replys.
