Default XJ8 Steering Column Adjuster Switch Replacement

Does anyone have a link to a YouTube video or other information on how to replace the switch that adjusts your steering column?

I’ve looked but maybe your search skills are better than mine.

This would be for a 2000 XJ8.

SO you have the switch already?
If not, the P/N seems to be LNA6465AA
And I found a hit on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/196341251316

In regards of the installation, you might get inspiration in those 2 videos:

Also Motorcarman had an input to a thread that explained how to replace the drive belt which is what controls the to and fro

Thank you for the lead on YouTube. Yes, I have the part number. The part number you listed is for the motor and I’m gonna start by testing the switch.

Pretty sure you do not have to remove the air bag or steering wheel to access the switch.

Motor? Maybe. Let’s hope it’s not the motor..

If the REACH motor is operating but no movement, the cable is likely sheared.
If the column can be pulled/pushed in/out manually, the nylon gear teeth are sheared.(new column)

If the switch is faulty, (I have never seen this) you can remove it from the lower cowl and replace it.

I don’t hear any sound from a motor when I attempt to move the column up/down, in/out.

That’s why I thought it might be the switch. That part is easy enough to install and test so I’ll try that first.

I don’t relish the idea or cost of replacing the motor.

The steering columns and the front seat headrests don’t like to move without breaking too much. Inherent flaws.

There are TWO motors,
TILT is the motor easily accessed under the column.

The REACH motor is on top of the column not really visible without dropping the upper column and tilting it down.
