Question XJ8 Steering Wheel Color Help!

Hello XJ8 crew!

I have a 2001 XJ8 L with the Ivory interior (NED). I am struggling to figure out which steering wheel color I have (I want to replace mine as it is torn/worn). I see the most common steering wheel colors are

Antelope AGE
Sable AEK

I have looked at a few color charts in the forums but keep getting confused on which mine should be. It has always looked dark tan/grey to me. Would anyone have a definitive answer? Really appreciate the help!

Nick,

Have you considered upgrading to a wooden (Vanden Plas type) steering wheel?

That's what I'm gonna do with mine.

I've never done it, but I think it's pretty easily doable,

Hey Jeff,

that is a good point I thought about going down that route but I do want to keep it original. I don’t have a VDP I just have an L. I just received an antelope color steering wheel and I’m not sure it’s right. This is frustrating. I might have to order a sable one now.

Why don’t you just dye it if it’s in good condition and then install it?

Yeah, I thought about keeping it original but my wheel is so bad and the wooden wheels are beautiful.

Hi all!

That Matrix is awesome thank you for sending. I finally gave in and took the center off of the original wheel and saw it was AEK. So I’ll be returning the first one I bought and I just installed my ‘new old stock’ AEK wheel. Very happy with the result. Also pretty easy to replace. A little goes a long way!

‘Diana’ also looks great in the SoCal desert. Love these cats!
