Default Headlamp bulb replacement

The main headlamp beam is inoperative and needs to be replaced. Can someone explain the procedure?

Yes, if you tell us what model and year of car, and if it has twin or one-piece headlights.

You probably have a “trap door” in the wheel well. Open that up and peek inside. Should be more obvious then?

If, as Vee says, you do not have the trap door, then you have to remove the surround and then remove the light unit. If you do have the trap door (usually a round removable panel set into the wheelarch baffle) you can reach in and get at the back of the unit without needing to remove it.

The facelift trap doors are not round. They are a rectangular-ish shape?

Default It's "Round"

Item #8 is the "door" used to access your 1992 XJS headlight.

Thanks for the input. This door in your illustration is exactly what I have. I am going to replace both bulbs and plan to remove road wheels to facilitate accessibility.
Best regards,
Tibbetts

if you just turn the wheel “in”, it’ll give you more than enough room.

You’ll just have to turn the wheel the other way when you replace the headlight on the other side.

LED bulbs are really bright, but the problem i found with them is the bulb and the plastic lens cover are incompatiable. The problem is the location of the filiments in the LED; They are not compatical with the lens focus. I would like to hear from anyone that has overcome this problem
