Default New Aluminum Radiators For XJS V12 on Ebay £167 what do you think?

Having been looking for a New Rad for my XJS V12 at a reasonable price, I came across these on ebay, for £167.

It looks worth a punt to me, what do you guys think?

It also looks like it will fit straight in my 1990.

I knew I shouldn't have Posted this, there won't be one left for me!

The fact is that its cheaper to produce a Rad made from Aluminum, than one made from Copper or Brass.

Maybe not the Case with the Market Leaders, as they are really in a league of their own and do appear to be producing a fabulous piece of kit.

Though as you would expect they might cost a bit more.

On the face of it these other ones seem good value for money and so if anyone buys one, please put up a Post and let us know.

done a bit of research on these, there's a couple of sellers and checking their feedback it appears that 1 buyer says negative they don't fit,

I think you will find that buyer, may have ordered one with a Thicker Core, ie in excess of 56mm.

OB
Ask them if the core is fixed to the side tanks with epoxy, or with actual aluminium welds. If the former, they WILL fail, so not worth it. A rebuild of your OE one is the best bet unless you get a WoOZ Aussie one ( from the Aussie Ford ?) complete with fans, like Grant recommends.

The problem with ally rads is, if they get a hole, ordinary rad guys cannot repair them.

Hi Greg

Talking of Fans

Reminds me of one or two problems I've had while you've been off-line,

First of all Brake Failure on my Grey XJS

Though having replaced the ABS Valve Block (Yet again!) and after spending a couple of days with Bleeding the Brakes, everything seems to be working well at the moment.

I was just about to order one of those Chinese Rads, when I noticed a 'Crack in the Fan'

Where some of the Forum Members, advised me to get it replaced £150!

Though one of the Members found me one a lot cheaper.

Have a look at the Photo and please tell me what you think before I go any further with ordering a Rad of any description.

This looks like a Stress Crack rather than a Molding Mark.

It is indeed a crack. In your place I would replace it to be sure, and the viscous drive while I was at it.
