Victor, when I saw your description of an Emerald Green XK8, it reminded me of the old joke about the blonde who calls a mechanic up about her car:
Mechanic "so what's wrong with her?"
Blonde: "it wont start! It just makes a noise like my hair dryer."
Mechanic: "ok, what kind of car is it?"
Blonde: "it's a red car."
mechanic: "ooh, well ma'am them red cars are mighty expensive to fix, but then it's a good thing you called me. . ."

all kidding aside, it looks like your post might have lost its original thread or something? How can we help you mate?

John

Hi All,
Many thanks for the quick reaching out, my delay in reply have been the changes CoVid-19 have changes how to go about ways of our lives. Cut My Drama get to the point!!

I have a 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible V8 non turbo charge. has about 119K miles
I recently change the gas filter, and a tuneup with new coil and sparks, with new batteries.
But when I crank on it will not turn over, seems that gas is not getting there, I had ask Thermos from a 10 year old Thread because I was facing similar issue, and Thermos said to test the Gas Valve to see if any Gas comes out No Gas when I press the valve.

Can any one please help, I'm new to Jag Engineering, very much interested to learn this is why I bought this XK8

Thanks in advance all.

Do a search for "XK8 Bore wash"

Check and ensure your battery connections are on CLEAN and tight. Perhaps take them off again. Sand them down. Refit and try again. Id bet good money on those connections not being right.

Simple rule. If an engine runs badly its probably fuel. If it does not run at all its probably electrical.

Nearly 100% certain it is a bad fuel pump. Fairly common problem. I had to change mine a few years ago.

Fuel Pump I have two votes,
I will call a EU mechanic and get a quote.

I did some research on line, replacing fuel pump is not something I can handle ;-(

Will update soon...

Bob G. I'm will yall but suggestively Mr Victor it's a good idea to hit the pump with an independent 12v source [**after pulling the connection to the car**] and make sure its the pump/ya hear it run- really quickly touch the leads Not prolonged... although a new fuel pump is a great idea on any vehicle with near 100k regardless.. Victor I assure you Bob knows his stuff to say the least I have spent an exuberant amount of time in the past few months reading the lions share of the threads on this forum. Seriously it always seems when anything technically inclined is being spoken of with carnal knowledge its men like Bob, avos, GGG. And a hand full of others that are spitting truth not regurgitated diatribe.. Best wishes on the repairs.. dont get discouraged you dont need a mechanic sir I promise with this forum and a basic set of tools you will definitely get that cat running propper..
Stay healthy

This is a link to a video that will show you a simple method of getting to the pump and replacing it if necessary
the guys handle on YouTube is Sam1174
Most likely a member of this forum.. not sure though. You can do it Victor!!👊
Take your time and all will be fine! Think of all the loot you can spend on other things when you're not paying that mechanic to do it for ya my friend

Spray starting fluid into the air intake, and see if it fires. I've never had to do this on the Jag, but for most cars usually the air filter is a good access point to spray. If it fires, you are lacking fuel. If it doesn't, you are lacking spark. Fuel pump is a likely culprit if it's a fuel problem.

That assumes that the plugs haven't been fouled by overfuelling/borewash/etc.

Find the Fuel Pump Relay.
Put a JUMPER-WIRE in place of the relay terminals 3 and 5 (or 30/87) and you will power the pump if the fuse and rest of the circuit is complete.

It's actually you're the man.
It's a contraction of you and are.
Your is possessive but don't listen to me because I am actually a high school dropout. (really)(I failed English and grammar classes due to lack of attendance)
