Default Dead battery

I’ve been trying to drive the 2006 XK8 every once in a while through the winter when we get a sunny day. Car is parked in a somewhat heated garage attached to my house. Went to drive it today and the battery appears dead. It’s maybe been a month since I last drove it. In looking at the manual and online, I can find no instructions for jumpstarting as I would a traditional car. Is there something I’m missing? The battery is new. I bought it sometime since I bought the car a year ago. Help please before the sun disappears again.

Here you go, a battery tender might be a good investment.

Can someone explain the reason for not running the booster car’s motor while doing the jump start?

Connecting the donor car to a dead battery while running can force the alternator to increase it's output and produce a voltage spike that can toast your modules.
Toasted modules are not good.

There are a lot of good battery tenders out there, I've used a Battery Tender Jr for many years and have no problems restarting in the spring. Spend the money for a good one, well worth the cost. My XK8 goes in to hibernation in November and comes to life in April.

Just a thought, maybe one of you folks that know Jags better can step in here. In my Corvette days, if one didn't lock the doors, almost 20 different processors were sort of active draining the battery and after a month, it would be dead. Locking the door would put most everything in to "sleep mode", Do XK8's do the same thing?

Yes. Locking the doors puts the car into sleep mode after about 20 minutes....

It will also eventually go into deep sleep mode, not sure how long it need for that.
You then need to unlock the door manually as the remote will not function.

Thanks guys! Old habits die hard and I've always locked the car when it sits more than a few days. And, good to know about the remote, thought mine was just being flaky/cantankerous/obstinate or, the remote was remembering its heritage and pulling a Lucas, "Prince of Darkness" trick on me...
