help with 2003 XK8 AC service ports

Default help with 2003 XK8 AC service ports

The AC on my 2003 was leaking down on freon. When I removed the caps on the low pressure port by the firewall and the high pressure port on top of the receiver dryer, both had pressure build up in the caps so I decided to replace the valves.
We, i broke one of my tools trying to remove the schrader valve on the low side and on top of the receiver/dryer, it looks like the whole assembly unscrews from the receiver and the valve is not a regular schrader valve but an assembly of some sort requiring a 5/8" deep well socket to remove.
I went on line looking for new parts and the ones at jagbits dont look like mine.
Also, the schrader valve on the low side is not like any I have ever seen and i have a large assortment.
I have heard that some Ford products use the same service ports but have yet to find a part number.
What I thought was a simple task is turning into a total pita.

I'd recommend that you simply replace the receiver/dryer since the system will need to be degassed & opened anyway. A new one will come complete with a new charge valve.
The part # is MJA7410AE - you can get one from the rock place for much less than Jaguar (Heritage recently jacked up the price to ~$200)

The Denso OE part # is, I believe, DFD11016.

Sorry I can't help re the low pressure side as it seems that Jaguar went back to a single hose with a flexible centre section for the 4.2, and there's no separate part # for the charge valve.

Thanks for your recommendations.
I normally do not discharge the AC system to replace these valves but it looks like for a Jaguar, it may be different.
Most systems allow me to replace the schrader valve with the system charged

Well i have what appears to be the low port for the AC but the problem is getting the old one off. It is not metric or any fraction of an inch as I have tried sockets from both. Even tried a socket for stripped bolts heads and cannot get it loose. Afraid of breaking it.

Ideas?

The valves do NOT seal on TIGHT, they seal on 'O'rings.(no need to overtighten them)

Pliers will damage the aluminum valves but they are faulty anyway.
Wrap tape or cloth and use pliers to SNUG the new ones.

Thanks for that link. I learned something new. I wondered if there was a special socket for those like they make for sending units in other cars.
I will never tighten them like what I have found as you said, this is an o-ring seal. Hopefully i can get the low side off without damaging the pipe.

Well, I got the correct octagonal sockets and the correct high and low service port replacements.
The high side was on to tight but I got it off. The low side would not come off no matter what i did. Not sure who to thank for that. Arrrgh.
I did manage to get the schrader valve out of it and found a replacement in my assortment that seem to be holding and I once again have cold air.
PSA in case you get into this mess
The correct part number for the high side is a NAPA 409521 or a Four Seasons 59946
For the low side, a NAPA 409522 or Four Seasons 59945
