Passenger seat minor annoyance - resolved
The passenger seat back on my XKR shakes and rocks forwards and backwards when traveling on particularly bumpy roads. The noise this makes is severely annoying.
When I decided to check it out, I found that I can move the seatback forward about 4 inches without engaging the lever to access the rear seats. I then checked the driver’s seat and found that it has the same behavior.
Is this a feature or can this be fixed?

Check the "pegs" at the base of the seat. They are most visible when the seat back is released and tilted forward. The back of the seat has hooks (activated by cables) that latch onto those pegs when locked in the normal position. There are posts about this repair. The short of it is that you need to find a short hex-head tool to remove the pegs and take them with you to a hardware store to locate a properly sized section of hard plastic to slip on the peg. I have had good success with Lowes rubber feet for chairs made of steel tubes. The extra thickness of that insert makes the play with the hook disappear and the seat back remains pretty solid. Best ($1?) money ever spent on the car, really. Over time the Jaguar plastic wears out and falls off, I assume, leading to that sorry situation.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

I posted a DIY about this in my working thread a couple years ago. I used hard plastic chair tips from Lowes. They are still holding up well.

I solved it in a similar fashion. We don’t have Lowes over here, and home depot only had rubber chair pegs. What I did is that I bought an approximately ¾ inch PVC pipe, cut 4 sections the length of the pegs, and ground down the outer diameter to about 1.5 mm in thickness with a low speed dental handpiece using coarse carbide burs. Then I smoothed it with fine grain carbide stones and spray painted it black with a can I had in a closet.
This worked perfectly. The seats are nice and taut on the assembly and no longer shake. Total cost was about $1.67.
