After putting the XKR away in the garage over the winter suprise it has an issue with being unable to start.
Originally the alarm would go off every time I tried so after some diagnostic I changed the drivers door latch and window module plus swapped out some relays and she fired straight up.
Problem is now I have lots of warning massages:
Boot open - it's not open.
Bulb fail rear- the only bulbs not working are the internal ones which did work but no longer do.
Suspension faut.
Restricted performance.
Other issues.
After unlocking the central locking handles open and close several times.
Boot/fuel cap release button not working but did.
Alarm does not go long off, full stop.
Roof open/close switch is dead. Did work fine
Airbag light is flashing but fixed this last year.
Codes showing
P0507
I have checked the SCLM connections and noticed it has a clip slot free, should something be plugged in here?
I'm guessing all of these issues are related so any advice would be most appreciated?
Engine and transmission at normal
operating temperature; IAT > 18 °F
(-8 °C); gear “N“; idle > 30 seconds
(no electrical load, A/C compressor,
radiator fans, brake pedal switching
during period)
Surface elevation < 8,000 ft (2,438 m)
Possible Causes
Intake air leak between MAFS and
throttle
Intake air leak between throttle and
engine
Engine breather leak
Throttle valve stuck open
Throttle assembly failure
I would check ALL the DTCs in all the modules on the CAN bus.
Before doing anything else check your battery is fully charged - in particular "After unlocking the central locking handles open and close several times." is typical behaviour when you have a flat battery.
As Motorcarman says, read the fault codes (DTCs) once you have checked your battery. An OBD dongle and the Torque app is the cheapest/easiest way of doing this.
And finally a warning: don't fiddle about with the wiring or any modules before you have done the above - old wiring is like a sleeping dog..
What I'm about to say might not be correct or accurate. Where you've stored it, could an animal get in? It's possible a wire might be chewed through, but there are too many problems at once for it to be a foreseeable issue. My daughter had a problem with the heating module (in a Peugeot), and it was a broken wire under the seat. The culprit? The dog. Check the battery first.
I charged the battery over night which is reading 13.26 v which I think is okay but the central looking is still doing the same and the error messages are still the same, the boot lights are working again though.
Using my Icarsoft reader the only codes I have are related to the Dampers and are:
C1427
C1432
C1422
C1516
When I have time in the week I will check the connections to the Throttle body too.
Hello,
what voltage does the battery have after the charging cable has been disconnected for a few hours?
The 13.26V reading was immediately after disconnecting it?
Even though the battery shows a high voltage, it might not have enough power to start the car (although it could start a smaller engine). The battery charger might be charging, indicating the battery is fine, but used batteries may not reach a high percentage of their Ah capacity. If you have a vehicle nearby with a large, reliable battery, try swapping it with the XK8. First, try a battery that has been able to start a large engine (or a new, freshly charged battery). If it still doesn't start, then it's time to investigate further.
I don't have a CATS suspension, but I think the errors you're describing are related to that suspension. I would check for continuity from all four components to the controller. But I'm sure someone on the forum can help you more. Also, since the motor is "moving," I would try taking it for a short drive to move the car and the suspension components. This "feline" is still asleep.
Thanks for the advise Michael but unfortunately changing the fuse didn't clear anything, I have checked all of the fuses in the car which again hasn't found any problems.
All the lights on the car are working so maybe the issue is to do with the bulb fault, has anyone had that issue before?
Also how do I check a relay with a multimeter? So I can check all of those on the car
