Default Ecu tuning group - 2016 f-type r

So I've had the car now for about 2 years and it is crazy fast. But I'm finding it's starting to Plateau for me and made the move to call Jags from ECU tuning group who then connected me to Grant who is his installer in Ohio. Looks like he's coming up to do and ECU tune and pulley for me in 2 weeks from now on April 26th. Just wondering if there were any others who have recently done the upgrade and what were your thoughts. Look through a whole bunch of tuners local and across the border and it seems like they've got a pretty good product with some good numbers.

Do some research on ECU tuning group. I would do a search on Google for ECU tuning group and McLaren Life 12C.

VAP are a very well respected and proven tuner for the F Type with many happy customers on this forum.

Back when shopping for a tune, I found ETG to be totally unresponsive and vague when I tried to get specific technical info from them. I highly recommend VAP.

Thanks for the great advice. I am assuming you have an f-type r and had VAP do an ECU tune and pully. What are the numbers please

No...I have a V6S now pumping out 455hp with 2 pulleys and a VAP tune.

Actually, there are a number of tuning companies that "over-promise and under-deliver". The hyperbole of some actually claim un-realistic numbers with "nothing more than a tune". I don't know of the one you are inquiring about but it they say things like that... run away. One of the guys on here posted how he had blown an engine due to one of those tuning efforts. Understandably JLR rejected his claim. He later claimed that the tune had nothing to do with the engine failure but he documented the issues so well on these forums that it was obvious the cause.

If you are tuning a v8 you can only use ONE of the pulleys, you can not use both as to attempt to do so would be counter-productive. If your tuner is un-aware or argues differently then... they don't have the knowledge needed to properly tune this engine... no matter who they may have "paid" to post good feedback...LOL

PS - There are already a LARGE volume of tuning posts. Based on the OP's opening salvo, it does not look like he has read those yet so his 1st day of tuning school homework should be to visit those prior threads for the answers he is seeking like these...

Getting the VAP tune and crank pulley next week due to the overwhelming posts suggesting this is the way to go. Getting dyno before and after. Will update on this thread if you're interested.

Not much different with the V6. Only the lower pulley should be Swapped out to maximize the performance. Combined with the upper pulley, the SC is pushed beyond it’s efficiency envelope beyond 6500 rpm.

If you don't get the VAP tune, you're wasting your money. Everything else is second best.

2 pullies ? my understanding was only one should be done and that 2 would make it counterproductive to quote one of the other posters. As far as ETG, I am quite the aggressive driver and went on a Muskoka run last year , saw first hand an F-Type with the ETG pulley and ECU tune and can tell you that it could pull away from me with ease. So I saw it first-hand the effectiveness of the tune done hence the reason for going in the direction.

Unhingd ain't no wallflower. And if he says he has two pullies I know there's sound and solid reasoning behind it. The man knows his s#%^.

I too vote VAP.

The v6 engines can make use of the two pulleys but the v8's can't.. as I understand it. Needless to say some aren't including the engine differentials in their 'canned' responses
