Default 2004 XJR BIG ISSUES Electrical? Can Bus?

On my buddies 2004 xjr. He was driving it the other day and it died. I believe its some kind of can bus module issue. The car will not even crank to restart. Both red and yellow warning lights flash. Scrolling under the speedo is 1) Config B 2) Transmission fault. When I run codes I get P0560-System Voltage MalfiunctionP1643 Can Data Bus Modular Network Circuit Error. The car was running excellent up until this point. Ideas besides going to Jaguar? I did hook up my jumper cables for about 15 min and still nothing. Lights windows radio and all work. When I had a battery issue in teh past this never happened....When the alternator in my xkr went this never happened. I was always able to jump and at least start it. Also disconnecting the battery for awhile or trying to clear codes does nothing.

OH and restricted performance besides the config B and transmission fault...
.

Any ideas????

A config message is indicating that a module needs reprogramming.

Could so easily be a wiring/connector fault.

Did you check your transmission connector for fluid leak? Can put transmission off line and short CAN bus. May need to do reset and code clear.

It was changed awhile back. I would literally freak if that was the issue.

Few updates. Fuse #17 in the engine compartment fuse box was blown. when i replaced it blew immediately again.

So today I removed ECM plug under fresh air cabin filter. All was dry. With plug removed the fuse still blows.

Being I changed the TCM plug two years ago im not convinced that's the issue ......However would it cause all of these issues he has. Its definitely a short as its blowing the #17 fuse

Now what my buddy told me today was that it was raining when the car first went into restrictive performance mode when going in reverse. When he shut off to restart that's when it wouldn't crank and all the above happened. So mayybbeeeeeee

Check the TCM capacitor for a short. It goes directly across B+ from fuse 17 to ground. It is supposedly on the engine bulkhead - never looked for it.

Looking at the wiring diagrams fuse 17 feeds the engine management and transmission modules; See the attached pdf. Trace lines 7 and 8 from fuse 17 in the first diagram of the engine fuse box on the wiring diagrams for the ECU and TCM which follow. The TCM capacitor seems to be in the mix.
