I am looking for info on the step by step process for using IDS, I can get it to run and diagnose, but then I get stuck trying to navigate around the system 19966 xj6......
When my VIN number is entered, the system reverts to "Legacy" system which I believe is normal.
I have attached manual which may probably confuse you even further .
I also have another manual available, however the file is too large to download to the forum.
Thanks for the info, mine does the same when entering vin, it goes to IDS, sometimes I can get the dtc's, sometimes it won't let me go back, dialogue box comes up saying I can close the function because something is still running and not complete. I will take a screenshot of the warning when I go back to try again. Could you send me the other files you have via email?.....jmstunts@aol.com
WDS and IDS were basically the same. It is not easy to use if you are not familiar and it was a 2 or 3 day course at a Jaguar training facility.
A manual can identify general procedures but will not answer specific questions about all the things it can do.
Here are student guides we got. I got paper guides but Jaguar later issued them in .pdf
Integrated Diagnostic System Curriculum Training (10mb 71 pages) and Integrated Diagnostic System Curriculum Introduction for new users.(6mb and 196 pages)
Bob, thanks for the manuals....I have been struggling with the ancient tech with no guidance for a while, and when something worked correctly, I couldn't always remember how I got there....
When I run the IDS, it lets me see dtc's, but when I try to navigate to other functions, I get these screens. Then to close I have to run task manager to end task....any ideas?
It looks like you are running SDD in Legacy IDS.
I have no clue how to proceed because when I enter the VIN it asks if I want to read DTCs.
If I answer NO, I can go anywhere with the upper or lower tabs.
I am running IDS with a Rotunda VCM just like I did at the dealer.(no SDD)
Not familiar with SDD at all. I left the dealer before SDD was issued.
I open up the program that starts with sdd, but when I put in the vin, it prompts me to start legacy IDS, which I do, I am able to read dtc's, but then I does the configuration screen....is there any way to download a separate IDS only program?
Yes you can use IDS without SDD but NOT with the Mongoose type 'dongle'.
You NEED a Rotunda VCM and the two cables. (USB and OBDII in/out cables)
It is all in the training documents.
Like Bob, I have only ever used native IDS rather than through SDD.
However, looking at your screen shots something is not right. The VIN number shown doesn't look like an X300 number (which I think should be in the range 720125 to 812255). IDS is interpreting the model as 1998 XK8.
I have 2 cars, a 1998 xk8 and a 1996 xj6, hence the x100 vin, but the question is about IDS, I have to start SDD, and when I enter the vin, the program reverts to legacy IDS. The problem begins when I start to navigate through the levels, I get this screen......
