Default Door Lock/Automatic Windows Down/Gremlin?

Before when door locked from inside could pull handle and would unlock and open. Now if pull handle nothing. Have to hit unlock button on dash and then handle opens door. This in not just on driver's door but all doors. Also yesterday when unlocking with remote all windows went down. Not sure if on remote I pressed multiple times or held down. Tried again multiple times but could not repeat. Don't know if this is connected, but just replaced failed driver door lock actuator. Are these options something programmable and if so how did I change them?

It may be faulty driver side window master switch, at this age pcb is coming apart and whole system starts acting up randomly.

In secure lock mode, doors can not opened from inside. When lock button from fob is pressed twice secure lock is activated.

Played around with lock/unlock today. Put in drive and all doors lock. Pull driver's side door handle nothing. If pull passenger side door handle or dash unlock button all doors unlockl doors. Then with next pull can open driver's side door. The driver's side plunger is not going all the way up or down. Just jiggles a little on lock/unlock. Pulling by hand (minimal force) does not move plunger. So I'm guessing whatever is in the door actuator that I replaced is not functioning or not hooked up correctly to the cable for the manual unlock but is for the electric unlock. The key in the driver's door does not do anything. Does not move as far either way as normal and not trying to force.

Other issue is all windows down go down. Don't know if weird coincidence or connected to issue above. Happened intermittenly when hit unlock on FOB. Could not get that to repeat today. I have a remote battery cut off switch (for a slow drain I could never find (thread on this)). From time issue started until today turning on power no effect. Today every time turned on power, I hear tank door lock release, boot lock release, beep from sounder and all windows go down. The doors do not unlock unless FOB used. Hard reset did not fix. I'm pretty sure the Global Windows Down is just to work with key. What module could be bad?

How would that have a connection to all windows going down when battery power on?

Electrical contact in the driver door lock module tells the key position in the door. If the contact has contact all the time without the key, it will cause weird things. Most weird things causes connection that is not fully in contact.

If it is sticking -- on the driver's door . . . I guess you could pull the door card and assure the rod end is attached to the plunger . . . or chance it and just run WD 40 or an equivalent down the latch to free it up (as Bob suggested).

Might also try a hard battery reset . . . it's the time of the year when cold weather gremlins strike. And it has been unusually cold in FL, ne?

Today, 19* F here, with a windchill below zero, seat memory failed, turn signal speaker dead, steering wheel telescoping, failed, too. Once the car warmed up, all's well!! They are old. And humidity and cold screws with the electrical connectors -- which never were all that great to begin with. . . Mostly Lucas crap (Prince of Darkness!).

Jim's post re seat memory etc issues in cold weather rang a bell with me. In the DC area overnight temps have been down in single digits on and off for most of two weeks. I had an issue just before the snow of windows going down when I opened the car. More effort to turn the key was required. Windows sorted out, but two days ago when I took the car out for its first run in 13 days I found the seat jammed up against the steering wheel and the wheel dropped very low. I moved the seat back, raised the wheel. reset the memory and hope that does it.

Our Ladies really don not care for the cold as they age. Electronic s and switches have tolerances that
are brought to the limits of their design.

My lady must be different, she gives up auto shifting steering wheel to the driving position in subzero temperatures
Additionally master switch composted itself by frost and humidity, effect: same as pcolapacker case, windows and mirrors acting randomly, when issue starts recurring often enough it is worth disconnecting switch to see if it stops stuff from misbehaving

Thanks for all the input. I was at a local British car club chili cook off and met a 03 XJR-R1 owner who is a transplant from Manchester. He suggested checking a fuse under the back seat or a bad BCM. I’ll try to trouble shoot this weekend and report back.
Some interesting cars their included a TR6 with a Buick V8 and a two stroke Saab.
